My dad contacted Cox to install a generator, before he died, to make sure my mother would be okay. The install was okay. Cox maintained the generator for 5 years with no issue. Shortly after a maintenance visit the generator threw an error and would not start. Cox was contacted in August and my mom was sold an extended warranty to cover the repair which was great. Cox came out multiple times and left each time without fixing the generator. My mom called for several months and calls were never returned. I had two independent installers come out to evaluate the generator and they were shocked about the shape the generator was left in. After spending 4 hours trying to return it to an operational state, it was determined that the attempted repairs by Cox had damaged the generator beyond repair. My mom had to pay another 10k to replace the generator. I finally got through to Emily at Cox to make sure they no longer came out. She was personable and apologetic but could not provide an answer to why call are not returned, why the generator was left un-operational for 6 months or whether we would be refunded for the additional warranty that was useless. I would not recommend them for anyone's widowed mother.

I rented a house from Clint Cox, the owner of Cox Electric per his LinkedIn bio and firsthand account. He stole $3900 of security deposit money from us to complete updates that he was having done to the house while we lived there. Not only did we live DURING A PANDEMIC IN THE HOUSE with OPEN HOUSES every weekend as he had it on the market, but also contractors at the house 2/3 of the time we were living there. We moved out August 31 and he has refused to return our deposits or provide us with the legally required documentation to prove damages and costs incurred. Beware of this company.

The service was provided and the work was completed in a timely manner. Cox pulled all of the permits and arranged for all of the inspections etc. After the work was done, we received a complete tutorial on how the generator works and how it must be maintained. The rating of "fair" for price reflects more on me and the fact that I did not research or ask for estimates from any other company. I think that the price for what I had done was "fair". The rating of "fair" for punctuality reflects the fact that I did not receive a phone call telling me that the workers would not be here at 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. I assumed that they would not be here because it was snowing but a phone call would have been appreciated after we were reassured that snow would not be an issue. All in all, this was a very positive experience and I am thrilled knowing that if we lose power, my generator will kick on.

"We regret that the customer is mistaken. The installer of the generator was a Cox Electric employee, our company does not use outside contractors for our projects. The local inspectors make decisions based on their personal requirements not necessarily based on national electric code. Codes change constantly and each town is different. If we did not call back in regard to the electrical work that was needed, it is possible that the file was misplaced, certain times of the year are extremely busy and at times we ask customers to use other contractors when we are unable to do the work for them. It is disturbing to us that this customer did not reach out to the owner of our company rather than making a public complaint that is unwarranted. This is unfair conduct to the contractor. If the customer has any further complaints we would love that they call Clint, the owner, at 401-742-4171. We would be happy to work with them to provide them with the service that they deserve."

I was charged over $400 for one hour worth of work- that I watched them do.
The materials cost about 40 bucks. My mistake in not asking for an estimate up front.

Clint Cox was very helpful in explaining our generator needs ,and the installation process. We ordered a 17KW generator, natural gas powered. While waiting for the generator, Cox did the 200 amp service upgrade, and preliminary plumbing for the generator. The generator arrived earlier than expected and installation was expedited. The installation was completed and passed all inspections by the town. All of the personnel involved, the electrician, the plumbers, and the start- up crew were friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. High quality work was done by all involved. I am very happy with the quality of the work and would definitely recommend Cox Electric all.

All of the service personnel were prompt efficient and knew what to do, but we lost some time because they didn't tell us about the different town inspectors that we needed to move forward- once that was accomplished- the installation was completed....Cox had done a good job.......of course, then we had to deal with the delivery of the propane and tanks to keep the generator running! But, we have it all together now and I think Cox did a great job.

It took months after I contracted with them to start. The first day the came they were not prepared for the job. They had no way to get it out of the van and over to where it was going to be installed. They damaged the enclosure to the generator when they dragged it across my lawn. The tore up the lawn then too. They did not have the cement pad that I payed for so they finished up what they could and would return. They came back when I was not home and put the pad in place and wired it. The cement pad was installed by just laying it on top of the ground. You you see big spaces under it. The wiring was not right either. The pig tail was left so long that it was putting a strain on the fitting that attached it to the box. The person who did this work, with out me being there, also drove through my landscaping to turn around in my driveway. I had to rake it all back out to fix it. The next time it was wired it failed the Electrical inspection. The pipe fitters that hooked up the propane did a great job! When the job was finally done I mentioned all my issues that I had to Mr. Cox. He agreed to do the first service for free and to replace the damaged enclosure. I was also over charged for a module that was not used. I also had to take extra time out of work because his workers could not pull off the job in two days as promised. To date I have not heard back from him about the enclosure or the overcharge. I have sent several e-mails with to response. I would not recommend or use this company again!

We needed a back up generator installed due to my husband's illness. After much searching, the Generac website put us in contact with Cox Electric. Within a day we received a call and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. Clint was excellent and provided an estimate on the spot and they took care of finding a propane company for us. We decided a full house service was best for us because we have geothermal heat/cool and everything - well water, essential appliances, even digital telephone for emergencies and the oxygen and other medical necessities - depend on electrical power. I admit I was a bit picky about the contract, but Clint answered every call with professionalism and courtesy. The work went very smoothly and it seemed in no time the pad was there with the generator and electrical work complete. Clint came by when we asked and we could always reach him by phone. The propane took a bit longer for installation, but the entire job was completed by early August. I can't say enough about the excellence of this company and its owner!

THEY OVERCHARGED ME FOR THE JOB THEY DID. THEY DIDN'T DO WHAT I HIRED THEM TO DO, AND IT TOOK THEM TWO DAYS TO CALL US BACK AFTER I FIRST CALLED THEM. THEY DID SHOW UP RIGHT ON TIME FOR THE APPOINTMENT, BUT THE QUALITY AND PRICE NEED IMPROVEMENT.
