I found Ken through Craigslist, but some more checking showed that he had done substantial jobs with good results. When he came to our house to see what we wanted, he brought a stack of pictures from prior jobs and a list of references. Ken listened carefully to what we wanted, looked at the pictures we had of similar cabinets and sketched up a few ideas on the spot. His initial estimate was in our price range, so we gave Ken the go-ahead. He returned to to take detailed measurement and provide a few more sketches, defining the details of the cabinets. Ours was a relatively small job: just one 11 x 8 x 2 foot unit with bookshelves on top and cabinets below. We were flexible on timing, but Ken gave an approximate completion date and stuck to it. He kept us updated on progress with pictures and email and double-checked details like finish. The installation went smoothly and now we have a beautiful new cabinet that greatly improves the looks and storage capacity of our little house. I would certainly recommend K. Alger Construction and Woodworking for other jobs.
