I had gotten 2 estimates that averaged $8000, with extra for various finishes. Rick's estimate was $3000 less, and a variety of finishes was offered at no extra charge. Rick excavated the area in one day, and the 6 man crew that arrived at 7am the next day were second generation workers with concrete, and their experience and attention to detail was exceptional. I watched the whole process start to finish, and was amazed at the talent of the crew. A custom scroll finish was done at no extra charge - project was done at 11 am the second day! Rick arrived that afternoon to make sure all was completed to my satisfaction. I could not be happier with the result!! The price ended up to be slightly higher than estimate, as Rick found some areas of this 60 year old driveway paved with old bricks and almost 8-10' deep, so it required more excavating, required some filling, and 3 more yards of concrete than originally estimated. Original estimate was $4950, and Rick only requested an extra $300 to cover the cost of the concrete. I voluntarily paid him more to cover the extra costs incurred with unanticipated excavating labor, removal and fill required to level the are. I think he's still in shock that I offered this, but he could not have anticipated all the extra costs and labor. I strongly believe that customers should pay what the work is worth, and in this case, I believe I got more than I paid for.
