"The installer called ahead of time to confirm someone is to be on site. The tenant stated her husband was on site. When the installer arrived and no one was on site. Our company policy is to have someone over the age 18 present for service, sales or installation. The tenant was contacted again. She stated if the installer could do the work without her present. It was explained of our company policy. She stated okay and would be there in 15 minutes. The tenant did arrive when installer called to explain to the owner of the situation. The installer did install an operator bracket to the door in which he was there to do. The installer attached the opener to the operator bracket and tested. The opener did not work properly. The owner was texted and explained that the operator bracket was installed but the opener needed to be replaced. It was not working properly. A picture was also texted. The owner responded with okay. The customer did not state that they wanted the opener replaced at that time. We do not carry openers on the truck and a quote could have been provided if the customer requested. We as a company are sorry we could not provide you with a better experience."

"The entrapment protection requirements are part of a Congressional mandate in the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 1990. The legislation requires that automatic residential garage door openers manufactured on or after January 1, 1991 conform to the entrapment protection requirements of the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standard for Safety, UL 325. The entrapment protection requirements are aimed at reducing the potential for entrapment between the edge of the garage door and the floor. Since 1982, the Commission received reports of 54 children between the ages of two and 14 who died after becoming entrapped under doors with automatic garage door openers. We follow the guidelines provide by International Door Association. Here at Carr's Overhead Doors do not provide service for garage door openers that do not have safety sensors. We do make the recommendation to have the unit replaced. Unfortunately, this was the case for your service call. The door was adjusted and lubricated and the opener was recommended to replace. If you would like any other information on purchasing a new opener, please give us a call."
