Mom, 86, pays for their premium service contact and has been a customer for years. Called because heat stopped working. Tech came out and put a piece of tin foil and a cloth over it to fix a wire on the outside oil tank since they didn't have the right part. In the meantime, they broke the bulb in the basement near the boiler and never mentioned it. Then it pours rain, soaking the cloth, finally they come back another day to put the correct part, but this does not fix the problem. To add to the insult, WOODs tells Mom that her pricey service contact does not cover THAT part ! Rriighht.......Heat is out again last night. Mom calls them back. Technician comes today - same guy who was here for an earlier visit - and suddenly decides he can't work on the boiler (after years with Woods) because it is wrapped in asbestos and there are pipes wrapped in asbestos under our house. I watch him as he calls his office from his truck SMOKING A Cigarette, to come back and tell us asbestos can cause cancer and he won't work on the boiler. So, confronted with a problem they have been ineffective at fixing after 3 visits, suddenly Woods can no longer work on Mom's boiler, leaving an 86 year old in the cold. Seriously people, run, don't walk away from this company. They will bill you top dollar, provide substandard service, and *suddenly* be unable to help you. Compassion and customer service is not a company value.

I have been with Wood's for many, many years (oil, service contract and new boiler [a few years ago]). Today I got an oil bill that was ALMOST DOUBLE what my budget plan was last year and the year before! And the due date is 8/8/23 ... 10 DAYS FROM TODAY! All the other companies I do business with give me 21 DAYS FROM THE DAY I RECEIVE THEIR BILL! I have a credit balance of almost $1,100 (which would cover approximately 2 more deliveries this year) ... BUT THEY EXPECT ME TO PAY THEM ALMOST $200 ON MY MONTHLY BUDGET PLAN ... IN 10 DAYS! I haven't made any payments since February because of all the money that was in my account ... and I still have a CREDIT BALANCE OF $1,091.01 ... AND THEY WANT $191.00 IN 10 DAYS!!!

Absolutely astounded at the B rating here. (Also disappointed to see my prior review gone. Angie's List is getting unreliable it seems.) We inherited Woods when we bought our last house. We didn't immediate check prices (BIG MISTAKE). Woods won't quote you a price over the phone. They give you the line of crap that they're a "full service" oil company. Turns out, that's because they're almost $1/gallon more than other local vendors. ONE DOLLAR A GALLON more. Shop around. Also, Woods engages in deceptive billing practices. We received bills for service contracts we never agreed to or indicated we wanted. Because we were servicing two boilers, this was a huge sum of money. I had to call and protest. Magically these charges went away. And so did we. We ran screaming to another vendor who does not engage in these sales practices and deceptive billing. Woods doesn't see the forest through the trees. My oil positive is the poor repair men they have who will come to the house are very nice. I hope they find jobs with better companies.

I never checked the price assuming they were giving me the best deal. They weren't. I had a problem and felt they were overcharging me for service. So I checked around and discovered I was paying something like 30% above lowest cost. I called them to quit service and they called me back and IMMEDIATELY offered to match the lowest cost. But not, of course, retroactively. I was stunned. Why hadn't they given me a market price all along? It is possible that all heating oil companies work like this. But this is my experience with Woods and I would never use them again.

Our furnace dies during the "Artic Vortex" in January 2014. We called Woods at 5:30 am, got a call back within half an hour and a service repairman was at our home within the next hour. Amazing service! A week later, we had a scheduled, full service check and tune-up of our system. Both the emergency call and tune-up were covered in our annual service contract which cost $234.
Four years ago, when we switched to Woods, they found a small leak in our tank and we needed to replace it before our first fill-up. [Previous company either didn't notice, or didn't care -- leak was very small, but we could definitely see it when it was pointed out to us.] Woods presented us with options for new tanks and payment plans. We had Woods replace tank with a new, Roth tank. Process went very smoothly and new Roth tank is great (compact and takes up so much less room!).
Our experience with Woods has always been great. They value our business and take great care of us.

Good company but their prices for oil are among the highest in the area. Switched to another company and saved over six hundred dollars per year. Also bought a new furnace from them. Installation went smoothly and everything was done professionally,

I have been receiving oil and maintenance from this company for 6
years. Every winter I have to contact them to discuss my contract. They
do not have the best oil prices in the state, and I'm going to be going
with another company. I'm tired of heckling with the over my oil
contract it's not worth it. The last fill-up I had the oil was 40 cents
more then most other companies. It really adds up...

They made sure I knew about the rebate available for upgrading my old furnace. Two weeks after I bought the furnace they mentioned in an email about a discount for buying a new furnance from them. I called and they credited me with the discount. The owner, Wendy, is always available to discuss any problem. The company as a whole is extrememly professional.

We asked if the problem was covered under our service contract. Was dissapointed to hear that it wasn't. We had the furnace serviced only a few weeks prior and they didn't see a problem. Also they refused to adjust the price. Thinking of looking for another company to give my buisness to.

"We have several different levels of service plans and give every option to all of our customers. Our service policies often cover most repairs. While this particular problem was not covered under the customer's desired plan, it may have been covered under a more comprehensive coverage."

They provided oil for our heater. They are very professional. When we need them for service they respond in a timely manner. They are willing to come out at all hours. UPDATED 4/2011* After being with Wood's for a year, I can honestly said I'm left unimpressed. Last summer after their tune up - we brought in a chimney cleaner to do work who found that the liner for the boiler had collapsed, preventing the boiler to exhaust properly. I know Wood's isn't responsible for that, but one would think that there would be signs of it not performing or functioning correctly when there was no exhaust leaving the system? I've been waiting a month for a call back about A/C work (ended up going with another contractor). I was curious about the performance of our current boiler - had 2 other contractors look at everything and each found a list of things wrong (matching lists almost). I had another contractor come in to properly tune up and address all of the found issues. Worst part was that the expansion tank was out of code and not functioning as well as the air intake not installed properly.

The work did not cost me anything as it was a part of my annual contract with them. They are usually prompt and give me a 3-4 hour window and they call me ahead of the technician going out, so I don’t have to sit around all day. I requested them to call me half an hour before the technician went out and they did that. It turned out to be a simple problem and not a complicated one and they did some settings and fixed the problem right away.

I have a service contract with them. They take care of the boiler and the hot water heater. They are very professional and they have been in the area for over 80 years. They are on time and come where they say they will. They are in and out within an hour. They call the night before they are coming and leave my bill in the door. The bill shows the amount of oil delivered and the price.
