Everything started out fine, but then we ran into several issues: There was no step down out of the sliders. The width of the steps from the top to the next step are all uneven. He also used a dull blade (which he admitted) so all the steps have jagged edges. When we pointed it out to him, he said that all we had to do was just sand it. We were not happy with this because we bought a new deck and didn't feel that we should have to do anything. There was supposed to be cement footings in the ground that were 4 feet high and they are all uneven heights. The posts in between the top and bottom of the railing keep coming out. The posts are also on the inside of the steps when they are supposed to be on the outside. He also said he was going to replace the light, which he did not and he left the Tyvek exposed underneath the deck. Afterwards, when I had addressed all the issues, I asked him to take a picture of the deck and put it on his website and he said he didn't want it on his website, to which I responded that I didn't want it in my backyard. The deck was shaky and not safe. Now we are out $7000 and have to hire another contractor to replace the deck again.
