Tim took care of my pets a number of times from August to November while I had to travel. He's done a great job and I look forward to having him back again. It's tough to leave pets home alone, but I knew they would be well cared for. He came between 2 and 3 times per day depending on my travel schedule.
I appreciated his detailed notes for each visit, though I didn't receive any texts/photos/updates while I was traveling as some others have, as one dog in particular has a very difficult time adjusting to new people and situations, if she does at all. Tim connected nicely with my other dog, however, and it was very nice to see the care he took to get to know him.
So grateful to have had Tim watching my flock parrots. I barely gave them a 2nd thought while I was away for the 5 day period he took care of them. Tim thoughtfully posted a picture on Facebook, which I thoroughly enjoyed, as I could see that one pair that are fairly challenging got some out-of-cage time and were comfortable enough with Tim that they actually looked into the camera, rather than running/flying in the other direction! Huge, I tell you, huge that they took to him so easily. I greatly appreciated the daily write-ups, as I was able to follow along with how their interactions went. When I called to confirm that I'd safely returned home, Tim shared that he also enjoyed interacting with a group of birds that are notorious amongst bird enthusiast for wheezing and/or freezing in place with unfamiliar people. Actually, I was a bit jealous that they seemed to take to him easier than they did to me upon their arrival in January. They've since redeemed themselves by showing their excitement with my return. Phew!

Tim is a joy to discuss pet care with as he's a very good listener. He will be watching my pets in the near future, but Angie's List keeps prompting me to review him so I thought at the very least I could say that after a and quot;get to know youand quot; meeting a couple months ago, I feel confident that he will provide the utmost care for my parrots while I'm away. Tim has confessed to not working with birds before, but has a willingness to learn. I was very motivated to contact him after reading his story about his personal frustrations in identifying pet sitters and feel, after meeting with him and watching him interact with my flock of Pionus parrots, that he really and quot;gets it.and quot; It takes a confident person to say they don't know something and be willing to learn. Parrots can be finicky with the people they allow around them and one of my parrots indicated an extreme interest in him and most easily stepped up on perches while he was learning to handle them.
Other factors leading me to trusting Tim is that he is bonded and insured, and the paperwork he requires prior to booking is extremely thorough. I absolutely love the clause about alerting him of anyone else that may enter the residence in your absence. If he encounters anyone in your home without advance notice, the police will be contacted - NO EXCEPTIONS. This is huge probably for all pet owners, but especially for bird owners, where the birds can be worth quite a bit of money (no Hyacinths in my flock, so don't even consider my flock, thank-you-very-much). I also like that he is associating himself with assistants possessing a wide range of experiences. One person that might interact (if he isn't available, and only by my permission) with my flock has bird experience and has worked with vets in the past. Pet care doesn't get better than that!
