Bergeron Painting

IF I COULD HAVE GIVEN HIM ZERO STARS I WOULD HAVE. WARNING: DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!!!!!!!! Mike Bergeron was hired after seeing his add on craigslist. Seemed like a relatively nice guy upon our initial meeting. I hired Mike and his crew to paint the exterior of the home that I have been renting for the past two years and am looking to purchase. In order for our mortgage to go through the house had to be free of any and all chipped paint - of which there was a lot of. Mike came to provide a quote - said the job would take 5 days and that they used Benjamin Moore paint - Mike showed up on day one with Behr paint from Home Depot. Then mike and his crew barely showed up - had a different excuse for every day as to why they couldn’t be there - after growing increasingly frustrated almost 3 weeks later I told him that he had better show up and finish the job because we needed to have these renovations completed in order for the mortgage to go through on the home - he had a lot more work done and swore that the job would be done at the end of the day - to which I let him know that the job had to be done to satisfaction otherwise the appraiser would tell the lender that they couldn’t approve the mortgage - well mike had his crew leave the job incomplete saying that he didn’t respond well to threats - It wasn’t a threat. I was simply saying that the job had to be done correctly (which it should be anyway with the amount of money he was paid) — in order for us to be in the position we needed to be in order to get the mortgage approved. He took all of the stuff (including all of the materials that we purchased) and he took off - leave us high and dry with a house that was totally unfinished. When I called to ask him why he couldn’t just return and do the work that he was paid handsomely for - he responded, “Don’t you have a husband? Have him get up on the ladder and finish the job” … He is a disgusting, nasty, evil con artist of a man. If I had only read the other reviews about him before hiring him I would never have done so in the first place. DO NOT hire him. His work was completely unprofessional. - BELIEVE me when I say that you could do a better job yourself. HE is the WORST. This man needs to be put out of business. He is DESPICABLE. I have NO idea how someone who is in business could walk off the job when a PAYING CUSTOMER is DISSATISFIED with the WORK THAT THEY ARE PAYING FOR!!!!!!!!! He is SCUM.

It went really well and I intend to have Mike and his team return to paint my kitchen, possibly wallpaper it. It is not easy to find someone who does wallpaper nowadays, so Mike has a nice niche for himself. He is an older man who hires younger people to help him, both men and women I also appreciated the 10 percent senior citizens discount..

Initially Mike was very nice during the estimate and quotation process. Job started ok and he showed up for two days. Then it rained for about a week and then the trouble started. Mike said he would be there over the weekend to continue and then never showed up nor communicated what was going on. Finally he responded and said he was sick (which did not explain why his crew could not come and pain), then said he would come next day for a full day and again never showed up. Essentially in next two weeks, he ignored our attempts at communication and showed up for a total of two hours. I suspect he underbids the job then realized it was bigger than he thought and rather than come up and have a conversation he avoided us, did not talk and caused frustration. When we finally decided to fire him he resorted to intimidation. Basically for a 1/3 payment he took he performed 1/4 of the job and disappeared. Stay away.

The carpentry work was less than adequate but the painting was done well enough.  The big problem was that we laid down towels and sheets to protect our new carpet for the pathway to the back room they were painting.  When they left i didn't pull up the runners as I was having a second person come and put closets into the rooms the next day.  When i did pull up the sheets there was a big red stain on my carpets.  It is the same color as my door which is a far distance from that spot.  It also didn't seep through a towel as we only had one towel with red paint on one side.  That towel must have been used to clean up the spill but all couldn't come up so they tried to conceal it.  
Check everything.

I had to get two rooms done in a hurry for moving in two days. We tried to get the rooms ready, but the wallpaper that was painted over wouldn't come off. He not only took everything off the walls, he filled the holes, treated and painted for our moving day on the 1st on November. He also did the trim and gave us some materials to use for other painting that had to be done. I would recommend him for any painting job.
