I had a poor experience with the gentleman.  In my front yard, I wanted some existing plants that were all dying and looked really poor, I wanted those removed and I wanted new stuff put in.  He removed it for $2,000.  He told me that we were gonna make plans for what we were gonna put back there before we do the removal.  He didn't do that, and then he sprung on me that he wanted to charge me $3,000 to put in the new plants that we finally did decide on.  And I just looked at him and I said hey, I'm really sorry that I'm not happy with this.  I think you should have told me that ahead of time.  We're talking about $5,000, and I'm gonna go get your check and I never want to see you again.  I guess it's my own fault; I could have withheld the check but then there would have been a legal fight.  I refused to pay $5,000 for the whole thing.  That's a ridiculous price.  He didn't follow through on his promise to plan out what we were gonna do before he removed everything, so he removed everything and then sprung the new price on me, of the additional.  Obviously I knew it was gonna cost more, but $3,000 is ridiculous.  I went out and purchased most of the plants that we were gonna put in and it cost me about $650 for all of the plants.  So the other $2,350, to me, was just a big **** you.  What he could have done better with this service was he could have followed through on his promise to plan out and make an agreement on what we were gonna put in there before removing what was there, and we could have discussed the total price instead of the second half being more than 50% of the first half.  So he charged me $2,000 to do the removal, which frankly, is the harder work.  And then he wanted to charge me $3,000 to do the install of new plants, and we're not talking about a large area.  So he could have been more price competitive, he could have been more forthcoming with the price, and he could have followed through on his plans and his commitment to gain agreement with me on what we were gonna do with the place before we removed it.  That might have even generated discussion about the cost, and so I would have looked at him and said no maybe I'm not into it for $5,000, maybe we should scale this back a little bit, or maybe I don't go with you and I go with somebody else, somebody a little bit more reasonable.  I liked nothing about the service.  The price is a key component of my dissatisfaction.  It was a rip-off; that's how I would characterize the price.  For punctuality, he was on time; he showed up quickly to take my money.  On professionalism, I think you talk about the whole job, you discuss total price, you get an agreement on what's gonna go in, you talk about scheduling; that's all part of professionalism.  The man is the owner of the business.  He looked me square in the eye and I told him I was unhappy and that I didn't want to see him again.  He didn't say oh, can I make it right or do you want to talk about it.  No.  He was like, that's fine with me; I'll take the check and never see you again.  There was no effort to make it right.
