S R Sisson Maintenance

Overall the kitchen remodeling went very well. Mr Sisson understood that we were on a very limited budget and had helpful suggestions for ways to save money. We had had a previous estimate of $25000. He didn't try to push expensive materials on us. We used a laminate for the counter top and the floor and bought "in-stock" cabinets from Home Depot. These are far from the top of the line materials, but they are of good quality and fit our budget The dismantling of the old kitchen was does quickly and neatly with almost all the old material taken away. There was no need to remove walls or do major reconstruction. We also kept some of the original built-in upper cabinets. Once the cabinets came into Home Depot, Mr Sisson and company went right to work on the installation. This house is 100 years old so, of course, many small problems occurred, but the problems were dealt with as the worked progressed. There was a mistake in the counter/cabinet measurement either caused by me or the Home Depot kitchen cabinet sales person. The problem was solved by Mr Sesson suggesting and my buying a small 9" cabinet which turned out to be an excellent use of the space. Mr Sisson did a number of small extras for no extra charge beyond his estimate. There was one small charge for some plumbing work that came up unexpectedly but the cost was very reasonable. We are quite pleased with our new kitchen. There is one small problem that I need to report. After the work was done and paid for Mr Sisson said he would come back to fill in the nail holes and touch up a few areas that needed it. We also asked him to make a small door which he said he would do. He never came back to complete these final touches or the door.
