We have a second home in York that my mother lives in. We hired John Hammill to redo the second floor bathroom for mom since she was having trouble getting in and out of the bath. Even though the bath was not large it had some issues that needed to be addressed such as a steam radiator built into the wall that was rusty and leaked and a bump out behind the toilet from some old vent plus an old cast iron tub that mom had a molded plastic tub applied over. John had some amazing ideas on how to tackle all the issues the radiator and bump behind toilet were removed which left unsightly holes. John is a talented and I would add artistic carpenter, he has a great eye for detail so he installed an electric heating unit where the radiator was and then designed and built a wainscot that not only took care of the bump out hole but it also enclosed the new heating unit. John and his assistant Dave worked very hard, were punctual, polite and professional, all around nice to have working in the house. My mom didn't really want to shop for the fixtures and besides knowing she wanted the tile to be a light color and a smaller sink she had little else in mind and allowed John to pick everything out. John removed the extremely heavy iron tub in one piece, it was unable to be broken up as we had done in another old home, because of the plastic overlay. In place of the tub John built a beautiful walk in marble shower with seamless glass walls on 2 sides, it is really amazing! Everything John picked out worked beautifully together and fit the style of the cute little 1940's cottage style home. I am an interior designer and was familiar with John's work from another job he had done for a client of mine and also my sister, so I felt completely confident allowing him to make the design choices for tile and fixtures since I was not able to get to the house during that time to help my mother with those choices. Not only is John a talented craftsman in remodeling, he also has a great eye for design. Everything worked out better than we expected, we couldn't be happier with the new bathroom. I would highly recommend John Hammill for any remodeling jobs and if you have no idea what to do John can help with that too because this guy has an eye for design. John is extremely honest, and a really nice guy to deal with.
