Buyer beware. I needed to have my chimney swept and also needed a Certified Level 2 Chimney Inspection performed. Walter, the owner immediately contacted me, even though I had not completed my submission on Angie's list for a quote request. He seemed very eager and accommodating, however I asked him one simple question..."Are you a certified chimney sweep and can you provided me a Level 2 inspection report?...Response was "Yes", of it turns out he is NOT CSIA certified and his work would not have been accepted by the vendor that requested the inspection. When I pressed Walter on the issue, he became frustrated and refused any payment from me even though I had a check in the full amount ready for him. It was my fault for not doing a more though job of due diligence, which is why I would have still paid him for his sweeping of the chimney and what he considered an acceptable certified level 2 inspection report. He claimed to have found some spider cracks at the flue at the top of the chimney and around the mortar cap, which after 3 visits, though all of the bricks and mortar was in good condition. If he were truly certified through CSIA I would probably have had him do the work, even though he is a very difficult person to provided you with a definitive answer to direct questions. My advice is make sure he provides you with a copy of any license or certification you may need for any work you are looking to have performed prior to engaging his services.

Called for chimney cleaning but my liner was bad, as was the brick the mortar on the outside. Due to weather the project took a little longer but the results are great. They even came over one evening for some emergency repairs that were needed for my house to have heat.
