CLASSIC LANCASTER CABINETRY

We were so pleased to find Classic Lancaster Cabinetry, a quality custom cabinet shop in Willow Street, Pennsylvania. We met with Dave Cope and came prepared with our drawings and measurements that met the specifications of our cabinet replacement. Dave looked over our drawings and we discussed door styles, wood selection and finishes that we desired. Dave provided us with a quote for all our selections and the pricing seen on his website, [*** Link removed ***] was a true estimate of the cost. We were quite happy to get such high quality, custom and upgraded features at such a reasonable price compared to other much higher priced cabinet shops and box stores. Our project was put on the Classic Lancaster Cabinetry schedule and during the build process we were able to visit the shop to see the progress. The cabinets were delivered to our home well ahead of schedule and perfectly built to our specifications. We are very happy with the look of the cabinets and the build quality crafted by the Cope family cabinet making business! Thank you so much Dave and family!

Worst experience of my life.  The owner (Dave Cope) is a bitter old man who made numerous mistakes, overcharged me and was more than 40 days late on delivery.  Every time I contacted him to inquire about timiing or to discuss a problem, he got angry and either blamed someone else or hung up on me.
His mistakes included:
1.  He provided the wrong sized spacers for the cabinets, which threw off the entire installation and has resulted in my kitchen being far less functional than it was designed to be.  Predictably he blamed the contractor becasue he "should have known" the spacers were the wrong size.
2.  His pricing is based on units, with a standard cabinet  being a unit and each unit being a fixed price.  My inital design was for 35 cabinet and was told when we executed th agreement that i could change the count without penalty as lond as he hadn't started production.  5 days later, I reduced the count.  As time marched on and I added some upgrades, I became concerned that he was not providing an accounting of the changes. For over a month I begged him for an updated invoice which he continually promised to get out to me. The day he was to deliver the second delivery, he hit me up with an invoice for the orginal amount and refused to deliver the cabinets unless he was paid that amount.  Ultimately, I needed the cabinets , so I was forced I settled with him (although it was always my intention to go after him legally for the overbilling once the job was complete.)  Essentially he held my cabinets hostage in order to extract extra payments..     
3.  My order ultimately came in three deliveries.  The first deliever was 30 days past the promise date, the second delivery was 2 weeks past the promise date and the third delivery was a week past the promise date.  In each instance I had to fight and fight to get a promise date and once I got it, I scheduled other tradesent around that date.  Dave never gave any advance notice that he would not hit the promise date and as a result, his delays throew the entire project into dissarray.  Ultimately  I had to pay a penalty to my GC for the scheduling chaos.
 4.  Genrally the quality of what I received was good--until the final delivery.  The final delivery, which was a very simple tv was inexplicably delivered in unassembled pieces (If I wanted to aseme,ble a cabinet, I would go to IKEA).  Worse, the quality was completely unacceptable...uneven joinery, shoddy paint, uneven edges.  When I contacted him to complain about the workmanship, Dave prediciably told that what he had produced is all that I was going to get.  Unfortunately I had paid in advance for this cabinet (the payment was a casulty of the hostage situation described in #2 above).  It was expensive, so now I will go to court to over it and the other damages I hve suffered.
