John Meenan's Transmission Service

I recently moved to the area from Colorado. Since we don't know a lot of people yet in this area, I used Angie's List to locate a transmission service to evaluate my Camry's transmission. It seemed to be having issues. I contacted John Meenan Tranmission in Willow Grove based on the positive number of Angie's List reviews. I called and spoke with John directly. He answered my questions and was able to work me into the schedule within a couple of days. One of his techs took my car for a drive to check out the transmission. He didn't find any issues, so he had me go with him on another test ride to further evaluate. Ultimately, no problems were found, but since it had been a couple years since the fluid had been changed out, I scheduled to have a transmission drain and flush done to service the transmission. That service was done on time and for the estimated price...they have a coupon with Angie's List members. I got a chance to talk with John for a bit while my car was being serviced. I find him to be very open in discussing the service of my car. I feel he is a person of great character and is very approachable to ask questions about something that is not my strong suit. I even brought my wife's car back a week later to get her transmission drained and flushed as it had also been a couple years since it had been serviced. Total for both vehicles was about $400.00 I will definitely bring my cars back to Meenan Transmission for future service.

It went great. John was 100 percent on point with his estimate a day the turn around time was amazing. I would recommend to friends, family, and anyone else needin any type of work on there car, truck, wtc. While specializing in transmission service he does many other services. TOP NOTCH SERVICE!!!

I had a real rush on the job—needed it virtually immediately, for my daughter needed her car to return to Penn State for classes. I called John Meenan on Thursday afternoon. He said "Drop it off today. I'll try to have it for you on Friday…Saturday for sure." I said I appreciate if he could have it ready Friday, but Saturday would do."

So, I dropped the Rogue off on Thursday afternoon. John had it ready for me by 5:00 o'clock on Friday—done, road tested, and ready to go.  And here's the cherry-on-top.

I had been quoted a repair price elsewhere that the job could run from $800-$900…but that repair shop didn't have the tools to handle the job. That first shop recommended I take the job to  Meenan Transmission. 

I did—and the full repair came in not at the anticipated  $800-$900 but, rather, at  $585.00.

That was the full trifecta: [1] quality work, [2] prompt service, [3] great price!

That shop is where I'm going hereafter if I need car work done that it can do. Nothing but the highest satisfaction!!!!!

We were treated honestly and fairly. We felt secure in knowing that the car was in competent hands and we were sure if it could be fixed, it would be, as we were dealing with honest people.

A catastrophic failure of the turbo, and catalytic converter. Took care of an axle, bearings and some other work at the same time. Second time I've come here with a significant repair needed. He takes the time, goes over everything, talks about options, tracks down some difficult parts for an older car... and even noticed an issue with a recently replaced transmission, and he held the parts supplier accountable to fix it before it got worse and/or was no longer covered by warranty.

This company is honest and a little pricey.

John Meenan's professionalism and general manner inspired confidence from the get go. The entire staff were courteous and friendly.  John explained the details of the work in good, lay terms. He kept me informed of the progress, and when the work was completed, my Yukon ran like new again. He asked me to come back in two weeks for a check-up of the work, and all was good. I would highly recommend John Meenan to anyone who needs transmission work done.

On time..under budget and way less expensive than making car payments. I figured if my house needs a roof I don't buy a new house! I just replace the roof. In the long run it was cheaper to keep her and re power our vehicle. John and his team did an excellent job which included some performance modifications that will extend our vehicle for another 200,000 miles. Honest and fair priced service is why this business has a 50 year old history in Montgomery County. When it comes to needing transmission or any drive line repairs I only go to John Meenan.

I was very happy with the work done and would recommend him without reservation.

John and his crew were terrific. My Subarau Baja suffered catastrophic engine failure. I'm new to the area, have not had good experience with some other shops, and did my homework to find John Meenan's shop. The tow driver confirmed he was "the best in the state." John broke the transmission down completely and talked me through what he found, and the options. Even an honest discussion on whether the repair was worth it. Ultimately, he had to search the country for a rebuilt transmission, and some other parts. talked through some money-saving repairs too-- replaced the rear seal for cost of part only, since engine was out. He insisted I bring the car back in a few weeks to check it out (free). No surprises on costs, and the vehicle is running perfectly.

He gave me a good name for rental car agency, Kulp Auto Rental, who had auto waitin for me at service center.  Their rates were very good and the car was excellent.  John gave me a price and time when it would be finished.  He was right on the money.He called me in two days and I brought the rental car back to his shop and picked up my car.  He also asked me to bring car back in two weeks to re-check seal..  I am completely satisfied with his service.

These guys are FANTASTIC!  I looked for someone besides the BMW dealer to repair or replace my transmission for over a year.  Couldn't find anyone to do it!  Checked Angie's List and found Meenan's and saw 14 positive reviews!  So I made an appointment and drove from Bordentown NJ to Willow Grove PA to have the work done at Meenan's.  They were quick to give me an estimate and the work came in below the estimate.  I would say the thing I appreciated most is how honest they are!  They did a really good job fixing my transmission and putting in a new clutch and shifter.  They even fixed a few other little things without charging me!  One of them is going to save me about $400!  I highly recommend them!

My car has 155K miles, so his expert opinion was not to repair the transmission. It would cost about $1,700 with the new part and labor (electrical circuit/component would need to be replaced, then programmed). He said he couldn't justify spending that kind of money on an old car with high mileage because there would be no guarantee that I wouldn't have additional transmission issues down the road. I'd highly recommend him to anyone!

John instructed me ,after he repaired my volvo, to drive it for two weeks and then come back for a check-up. That really impressed me that I was offered follow service. John's business is one that I have and will recommend because of its professionalism, excellence, ability to explain to their customer in laymans terms what is going on.

There was a problem with getting the transmission. He was in touch with me and apologized. It took 10 days for the transmission to come in and they offered me a car to use if I needed it. He was very nice and explained me the reason of the delay was because it had to come from overseas. However, as soon as it was on US soil, they started tracking it and it took only three days to fix the transmission after they got it.

estimate was accurate and service was outstanding. I've used this company for years and would recommend to anyone for transmission work.

My experience to them went really good. Ironically we traded it and somebody owns it with a good running condition, it was one of those we made a decision to maintain it and then all of a sudden a great deal came up at local dealers so we put all the money into it. Somebody made up pretty well.
