They were on time, they did exactly what they said they were going to do, we were very pleased.
"Customer was quoted $175.00 + tax per chimney cleaning, for a regular fireplace and heater chimney. When we asked the customer if the fireplace had an insert, gas set up or gas logs the answer was no, so that is why the $175.00 + tax was quoted, other wise the customer would have been told $260.00 + tax for gas fireplace chimney cleaning. Our men did clean both chimneys, and provided an estimate to repair the hater chimney. As for another company going out to estimate for the same repair and then stating we did not do a proper cleaning is a tactic that is slanderous at the very least. Gannon Chimney Repair is a reputable company that has been in business for over four generations, we stand behind our work. With another company coming in and doing work we can no longer stand behind our job as another party has compromised the entire situation. At this point Gannon Chimney is willing to refund the difference in the cleaning price from the $260.00 + tax down to $175.00 + tax which would be in the amount of $90.10."
They were very responsive, punctual and professional.
He gave me the estimate 4.25.2012. Then I got a bill from them for $725 saying that all the work was done on 5.1.2012. I couldn't tell that any work was done. My neighbors didn't see anything. The bills all state and quot;all debris WILL BE removed from job siteand quot; - stated in the future tense.
Of course I called and the person I spoke to said that she probably sent me the wrong bill, which sounded pretty bad in itself. I got another bill and called again. I asked specifically for George Gannon, who gave me the estimate, each time I called, I kept being told he was unavailable and he never returned my calls.
They insisted that they did do the work! They'd never gotten my authorization to do it though! I kept getting bills and kept calling asking to talk to George. Five months - he never called. The office manager, Joan, said he tried to call once, which he did, but it was all static because he was on his cell. I called the office and told them to have him call me on a landline - He never did.
He didn't call back again until I called saying the problem still existed - That my wall was damp and they'd capped the wrong chimney. There's still a water problem. Apparently they came, again without telling me, and put a note on the door saying that work was completed, that they'd checked the roof, found nothing wrong and said and quot;I hope this makes you feel betterand quot;, which I found condescending. I called Joan and she said George would call me Monday morning. My ringer was off and I didn't realize it, but there was a message from George Monday morning saying they'd send someone over right away. I called Joan to find out when someone was coming so I'd be home. Four days later, I haven't heard from or seen anyone.
I called the Senior Law Center and told a lawyer everything and he sent me a letter saying that I needed to talk to Gannon and tell him that when they cap the right chimney I'll pay, but I've never been able to get a hold of anyone!! It's October; this started in April. This problem is still here just because he hasn't had the common courtesy to call and have a conversation with me about this situation. I want to move on from this project and have it done right!
