He spent a good amount of time and gave us a detailed estimate: $840.00. He came and spent most of one day and part of another, fixed everything, and installed a new box. The bill was $840. It could not have been better. He was terrific.

Shortly after purchasing this house, we discovered what the home inspector had not (although only God knows why): the entire second floor of the house (four bedrooms and a full bath, plus sleeping porch) ran off a single 20-amp fuse. Previous home-owner had substituted a 30-watt fuse for the recommended 20-watt. Half the outlets on the second floor were non-functional, leaving only one working in each bedroom and the central landing space.
We got several bids on the job and although Matt's wasn't the lowest, he suggested an innovative solution that would obviate the need to break into the old plaster-and-lath wall in each bedroom. Matt said he'd run a completely new 100-amp service up to the attic we had already decided to renovate (it was a warren of small rooms with walls made of masonite, probably to accommodate some indigent relative during the Great Depression).
My husband and I demolished the interior walls of the attic and discovered dangerous old wiring covered with newspapers and magazines (dating to 1934-1939) that were used as insulation. We filled a 15-foot dumpster to the brim with the resulting debris, and thanked God the house hadn't burned down
Matt came in when he said he would, and began work by removing all the old wiring, without interrupting service to the second floor where we each have a computer, multiple tvs and exercise equipment (except for an hour here and there, and Matt always gave us a heads-up so we could safely power down). He then ran new cabling from the basement up to the attic (and just finding a route to do that required the removal of an upper kitchen cabinet, revealing the waste pipe that serves the kitchen and both bathrooms). He installed outlets every six feet in the attic, which was in the process of being renovated simultaneously by the carpenter who had recommended Matt to us. He had to pull up attic floor boards to do so, and to access the space between the outer shell of the house and the walls, so he could run wiring from the new circuit-breaker box in the attic to each of the four bedrooms below plus the bathroom and central landing space. He also created a hard-wired smoke and CO2 detector system that serves the basement and all three floors.
Matt was always there when he said he would be, and when he ran into unforeseen problems that required more time than he'd anticipated, he was willing to and quot;eatand quot; the extra expense (although we chose to reimburse him beyond the amount of the original bid because we want to use him again). In the end we had a lovely space with multiple outlets, cable-ready wall mount for the TV, lights in the closets, etc., plus a functional second floor wiring system. The bulk of the project took about 3.5 weeks, plus a couple of days at the end of the attic renov. project to connect electric wall heater units and connect the wall outlets to cover plates, etc.
Matt was a pleasure to work with as well; always polite and cheerful, and cleaned up after himself at the end of each work day. We will be using him again for further remodeling projects that require electric work: remodeling two bathrooms and the kitchen.

Matt Peck of Peck Electric came to correct a light switch malfunction
which had been improperly serviced previously. Matt immediately
detected where the problem was, and since the light
switch I wanted replaced had to be ordered, he set up a temporary switch
for us to use until the new one arrived.
While here, I had him replace another light switch as well.
When the new switch arrived, Matt came and installed it, as well as replaced
another switch in another room that had gone on the fritz since his first visit.
Matt is knowledgeable, professional, courteous and efficient. His price is fair; he responded promptly and arrived on time. I would not hesitate to use him again or refer him to others.

We recently purchased an older home. A few spots had been wired by a "do it yourselfer". Matt Peck was great. He's very knowledgeable and efficient. He evaluated the current wiring and helped us to prioritize our future needs. I would highly recommend his services.
