Both Joe and Mike seemed to be very personable and trustworthy builders when I first met them and the references they gave me were good. That impression quickly turned out to be false, however, based on their non-actions and empty promises over the past 6 months. I am left with little more than a "shell" of an addition, with no response at all from them as to my attempts to contact them. Additionally, there have been problems with some of the work they have performed, resulting in damage to the structure, which they have failed to correct even after notifying them of those problems on several different occasions. They have left large piles of construction and demolition debris and general trash laying on and around my property all winter. They are also still holding, at their location, 31 feet of vinyl flooring that I purchased separately for the job, as well as the key to my back door and have not responded to any of my phone calls or letters.
Description of Work: I signed a contract with Joe and Mike Spak to have them build a 16' x 8' addition onto the back of my home that was to become a small bath and laundry area. The contract was signed in September 2007 and at that time, they gave me a verbal promise of a completion-date of the second week of October 2007. It is now February 2008 and the job isn't even near being completed. For the first few weeks, they came out regularly to work, but once they had framed the walls and roof and then collected the money from me that was supposed to have been put toward the materials and labor for the rest of the job to be performed, getting them to return became nothing more than an exercise in futility.
