Out-of-State Moving Service
We hired Don Farr Moving for a long-distance move from PA to FL. We paid over $20,000 ? in full and ahead of time ? and have experienced an outrageous level of misconduct, including: *Breach of contract: Our second truck, containing 80% of my in-laws goods, was withheld for a week without valid reason or communication. Delivery was arbitrarily delayed with no formal notice *Negligence & elder mistreatment: My 72-year-old father-in-law, who has Parkinson?s, was forced to sleep on the floor due to Don Farr?s refusal to deliver items. When contacted, CEO David Fix blamed our family & dismissively offered to buy a bedframe ? instead of delivering our property. *Deceptive practices: After public complaints, I was blocked on all company social media pages, and we were offered $2,500 to take our posts down ? a clear hush money offer. *Damages & missing items: Once the second truck was delivered (only after public pressure), we found extensive damage, missing belongings, and inventory issues
Response from Don Farr Moving and Storage

"We appreciate the opportunity to respond and provide clarity regarding this move. While we regret that this customer feels their experience did not meet expectations, we?d like to share a few key facts about the situation. This was a large, multi-household move from Pennsylvania to Florida, involving both the customer's household and her in-laws?. The original signed estimate listed 405 items, but our crew encountered over 850 items on move day ? more than double the planned volume. Despite this, we worked diligently to ensure all items were delivered safely and professionally. Addressing the Claims: ? ?Breach of contract? / Delayed Delivery: The first truck ? which carried the majority of both households? items ? was delivered on July 19?20, just days after loading on July 14?15. Due to the unexpected volume increase, a second truck had to be dispatched. That truck delivered the remaining items on July 27. The brief delay was due to logistics, not misconduct, and the customer was informed. ? ?Elder mistreatment?: We strongly reject any suggestion of mistreatment. The customer posted about a missing bedframe on July 21. We offered to buy and deliver a replacement bedframe the next day (July 22) ? before the second truck arrived ? simply as a gesture of goodwill. The offer was declined. Other beds had already been delivered to the home prior to this concern being raised. ? ?Deceptive practices / hush money?: At no point was money offered in exchange for silence. The $2,500 referenced was a goodwill settlement offer to help resolve the matter. We often make such offers in complex situations ? this is standard practice, not a bribe. As for social media: our platforms are designed for marketing, not customer service. If posts become repetitive or hostile, we reserve the right to moderate ? as many companies do. ? ?Damages and missing items?: Any claims for missing or damaged items are being handled through our standard claims process, which was initiated immediately after the second delivery. Our insurance provider has also been notified and is reviewing the customer?s submitted documentation. Final Notes: We know this move didn?t go as smoothly as anyone hoped. But at every step, Don Farr Moving acted in good faith ? offering discounts, prompt communication, and even replacement items ? to make things right. We remain open to resolving any outstanding claims through the proper process and continue to serve families across Pennsylvania and beyond with professionalism and care. ? The Don Farr Moving & Storage Team"

Have many many unnecessary damages due to 100% neglect and disregard by the men doing the moving. We were told by the driver that he "had to switch trucks during a severe storm and had to unpack and rebox several of our boxes due to water damage As a result, we are not even sure that there are not missing items, since things were repacked differently. We have 2 broken pole lamps, cracked Tiffany lamp, broken oil heater, scratched piano, missing chain pole saw, missing blankets. My boxed wedding dress arrived unboxed in a garbage bag. and our smart tv arrived unboxed. The list goes on. Paid $6,000. Filed a complaint for $1,000 to replace/repair damaged and missing items. Four months later, received $201 check. Farr is unresponsive, did not return phone call on day of delivery. Very disappointed and angry. Would never use again or recommend.

Made the mistake of hiring this company for my elderly mother. I was quoted 600 for a 1 bedroom move and it turned out being around 1000. This was a first floor move to another first floor only 5 miles away. I called them to demand a refund but they said we now charge 160 an hour. Do not make the mistake of using this company or you will be charged well beyond market rates. They also sent two men age 50 to 65 to move. You heard that right older individuals to move which increased the time needed to move. NEVER AGAIN.
Response from Don Farr Moving and Storage

"Your mother quote was originally 3 men at $210 per hour... upon review, we determined that it could be accomplished with 2 men at $160 per hour. You were provided with the original quote/estimate at a higher rate, which you read and agreed to. We actually ended up SAVING your mother money by switching to a smaller crew. In addition, AFTER the move was complete and the crew was gone, your mother sent our company a message the next day THANKING us for the help and stating that the crew were great & "the nicest guys". As for the "Age" of the 2 men, NEITHER areas "OLD" as you may perceive, BOTH are long time employees, of supervisory/team leader status, and more than capable of providing excellent & timely service."

We chose Don Farr to move us to our new home after we had used them 18 years ago and we were very happy. Our move and how this company has handled how badly our move went, goes beyond unprofessional and unqualified. We contracted Don Farr to move about 67 pieces of furniture. Out of 67 pieces, 56 have damage. Scratches, gauges, chips, and knicks in wood furniture as they were not wrapped- padded correctly or not at all. Movers did not unwrap the furniture, set furniture in the proper location, set up beds, or set them up incorrectly. We provided bottled water and pop for movers which movers left in the moving van causing permanent water damage on wood furniture. The moving van pulled the cable lines off the house we were leaving and movers pulled the storm door off hinges. This move was over 3 weeks ago and we are still trying to get some response from their office. We have sent them 75-100 pictures of the damage and have only received emails. The texted that we need to fill out a claim form. Not only were their movers untrained and not interested in how they handled our belongings, but their office staff seems to be as uninterested in properly addressing this situation. Not only will we be discarding pieces of furniture due to the extent of damage, but we are also paying to have pieces moved and assembled correctly, repaired if possible, and repairing or replacing a storm door. This situation is beyond an insurance claim as it falls on the management and their lack of training for their movers. We are still calling and emailing the appropriate people in their office, with no adequate response to this situation. Their service was not worth what we paid and their customer service is equal to that or below. I would highly advise anyone not to use this company.

After loading 2 trucks with all our furniture - they never showed up at our new home which was 4 miles away. Called the office - told that 2 guys decided they were done for the day, called an Uber and jumped out of the truck. The other guys refused to finish the job with 3 guys. The company could not find anyone to join the crew, so our load went to their warehouse overnight. We had no beds. The crew sent the next day were very good, but the first crew damaged three pieces of furniture, including the leg of our dining room table, which they nailed together with 3 nails and did not disclose/tried to hide. We have attempted to call their office for three days and have not gotten any response. Left garbage, water and soda bottles all over the house. Nightmare experience! Hire at your own risk!!!
Response from Don Farr Moving and Storage

"In response to Dorothy Ds poor review: An unfortunate emergency occurred, and the shipment was unable to be delivered the same day. The customer was given reimbursement for overnight accommodations at a local hotel (which they accepted, but chose not to use as such). Mr. DeBone has called on several occasions (multiple times a day), and his list of complaints/damages have been listened to and noted each and every time. He has been instructed of the claims procedures (industry-standard filling out of loss forms), and has refused to do so, stating that he "doesn't have time for that". They do, however, have ample "time" to post negative reviews on Home Advisors website, and to date, has yet to submit any photos or documentation of damages claimed. We have been more than accommodating in trying to satisfy this customer, and believe that maybe there is miscommunication between Mr & Mrs. DeBone, as to whom has or has not spoken to us and the subsequent result."

Crew took their good old time the entire day. Not good. Rate was high as well. Double trouble. Never use them again. Had a different mover the day before because we were consolidating 2 locations into one and the difference could not have been clearer. Both from a cost and a performance standpoint.
