The first project was the spring house in 2010 and it turned out so well we hired Mr. O'Connor to restore the ice house in 2011, Again the project exceeded our expectations and we were excited to have him work on our house this year, 2012. As with any project there are many questions that arise along the way and decisions that can only be made when the problem is encountered. He brings everything to our attention and is totally helpful in resolving issues. My wife and are are delighted with Mr. O'Connor and his associate. They are polite, well mannered and meticulously clean and careful of our property. He is always punctual and is honest and reliable. We plan on employing him for future work inside our home. -
Description of Work: Completely rebuilt our spring house/smoke house in 2010 using 24-inch hand split white oak shingles. Located reproduction siding that was a later part of the spring house where the milk cans were kept. Built two doors and installed hand forged hinges and latches made by a local blacksmith.Completely restored our ice house in 2011 using pictures of the structure as it had once existed. Roof framing was chosen to use 2x8 douglas fir rather than full dimension lumber to save money. Shingles were the same 24-inch had split white oak. A new door and hand forged hardware were installed. Built a stairway to allow access to the bottom of the structure which is about 15 feet deep. Midway down the stairs he set an old beam on the stone wall that was salvaged from a barn on the property. The beam has names and dates carved into its surface, probably from the original builders.Began work on our house in 2012. Repaired wrap around porch floor, installed steps and ironwork to match existing structure. Sealed the standing seam roof and flat seamed gutters that had pulled apart over the years and were causing water damage to the beaded board porch roof.. Work is continuing to repair window sills and trim for complete outside restoration.
