West Chester Computer Doctors

Following a brief electric power interruption several days before my desktop computer no longer functioned properly. (My battery backup had recently died and I hadn't gotten around to replacing it. Lesson learned.) Couldn't open a program, Windows 7 was acting up and when I went to shut it down it took forever etc. I called WCCD as I had used them last year to upgrade my computer to Windows 7 Professional when XP was no longer supported and they had done a good job. I was hoping they could fix the problem remotely, but I was told by Brandon that I needed to bring it in which was just 3 days before Christmas. I was fortunate to find a parking spot on the street a few doors down from their shop on High Street late that afternoon. The loading space in front was occupied. I dropped off my computer relaying what was happening via some notes I had written. Unfortunately they didn't have a working copier to make a copy for themselves. Anyway, they said it would take 1-2 days to run their free diagnostics. The next day in the afternoon I received a call saying that my computer hardware was fine that they weren't seeing anything terribly wrong but that they had a few other tests to run. I explained further the inability to open a program. A few hours later got a call saying that there seems to be a corruption in the operating system and that it might need an "in place upgrade of the operating system" which would run $99. I gave the go ahead for that service. We spoke again the day after Christmas when I called and spoke with Brandon. Computer was still freezing up on them while attempting in place upgrade. Said they have a couple things to try. Late in the day received a call from Brandon saying they'd tried a number of repairs but it still was acting strange and not allowing them to replace system files, but still have a few things to try on Saturday. Well Saturday went by with a few phone conversations that they were still having problems and then it looked like they had success at the end of the day and that they would call me Monday after testing what they thought was a successful fix. Well Monday morning I spoke with Dale and he said it looked like the AVG anti-virus program on my system was corrupted so they uninstalled it and the in place upgrade finally went through smoothly, but takes a lot of time to capture all the updates. Finally picked up my computer on Tuesday, nearly a week after dropping it off. Unfortunately the computer takes a bit longer to get into Windows because now after starting up I get Windows Boot Manager doing a Windows memory diagnostic before it switches me over to Windows 7 Professional. When I called to ask about it they said I'd have to bring it in for them to fix since it's in the BIOS. Not worth the hassle since it's a desktop. I have been using my computer for several months now and other than that start-up annoyance it's been working fine.
