THE GREENERY

Arranging flowers should be a joyful thing and a well-done arrangement should bring joy to the recipient.  Color, texture and proportion are the aesthetic components of any floral arrangement.  Each bouquet I received was uglier than the previous one.  The last one consisted of four small sunflowers (a rich, deep, gold), three gold and red c***'s combs, three pale pink roses and a light lavender hydrangea in a deep purple vase.  The vase was 9" tall and the flowers were cut so that none stood more than 3.5" above the upper rim of the vase.  The roses had 5" of stem and did not reach the water.  I was so disappointed that I couldn't decide where to put them.  I wound up removing the c***'s comb because they were covered in fruit flies, discarding the purple vase in favor of a smaller clear one and tossing the limp roses.  My husband said it looked as if we might be getting left over flowers or something.  When I called to register my discontent, the owner defended the color combinations, saying the arrangement was yellow, orange and blue (but she did say the c***'s comb was gold).  I asked if she thought of gold as yellow or orange because, to my way of thinking, this might be the problem.  There were no yellow flowers and no orange flowers, just gold, pink and lavender, in a deep purple vase.  I love flowers and am fairly easy to delight with a bouquet.  Flowers from The Greenery depressed me.I asked to have the flowers stopped.  She called my husband (in a meeting at work) and told him that she was offended and asked if he would like to stop the deliveries.  Now I am doubly offended.  First because there is no way anyone would have found any of the arrangements I received thoughtfully or attractively arranged.  And secondly because the owner of the place thought it was appropriate to call my husband to complain about me not liking the flowers.  

Just as an aside, three friends who saw the arrangement before I amended it thought it was horrible. The first one thought I had put it together and helpfully suggested that I should consider taking a floral arrangement course through our local night school. The other two knew it was from a florist and they encouraged me to call and complain, even though it was a gift.

The staff was very friendly and provided an excellent product.

Arrangement was quite nice, lots of flowers for the price. All but a few lasted for close to 2 weeks.
