I tried to get five bids for the project. I contacted potential contractors through Angie's list and asked for referrals from Pace Supply in West Chester. I got three responses: One from Joseph T. Dunleavy who has a poor local reputation (no better than his brother's rival company, William T. Dunleavy), one from Fisher roofing, and one from Springer Roofing. Dunlaevy was 60% higher than Springer's and he insisted he could make the bid without looking at the job b/c he knew the property and the work. Fisher's price was the lowest, but the rep did not seem organized or conversant in the work. Spinger did the work with a crew of 4. That meant that each roof was completed in a day and they cleaned their own mess as best as possible. The workmanship is great (a few negligible flaws only an extremely detail-oriented person would notice... nails missing rafters, scraps of shingles in bushes). I confidently recommend Springer.
Description of Work: lifetime shingles installed on a detached, single-story garage. Galvanized metal (28 gauge) roof for 14' x 25', single slope front porch on a duplex home.
