The job went very well.  Another contractor had expressed some anxiety about the difficulty of the job, given that the two large trees to be removed were in the backyard, near power lines, and inaccessible by truck.  But when Mike Dunn came out to give us an estimate, he explained that their company isn't "bucket-truck-dependent" like other firms.  He said, confidently, "All our guys are climbers".  Preservation Tree's estimate was higher than the other company, but they seemed more at home with this kind of job.  Plus, I like what Mike and his company seem to stand for, and I wanted to "vote with my wallet." 
When the big day arrived, they arrived on time and got right to work.  They brought down each of the big trees one section at a time, with minimal damage to the landscape below.  They took care to protect paving stones and wood planter edges, by lining them with the first large branches they brought down to absorb the impact of the trunk sections as they fell.  They cleaned everything up at the end, and even cut the oak into short pieces so I could split it up for firewood. 

Mike Leventry came out to give an estimate on several trees/stumps that had been damaged from ice storm, on same day that I called for an estimate. He was very professional and honest about the complexity of removal for the largest and most damaged tree, a 100+ year old Norway Maple that was hanging over our home and very near electrical wires. The estimate was sent to me promptly. They provided proof of insurance and work was scheduled with no problems. 
When the crew came out to complete the work, they arrived exactly on time and worked all day. The work area was cleaned up, our property was left in the same shape it was in before they arrived. Work was done exactly to specification.
I would not hesitate to recommend Preservation Tree to anyone, they were extremely professional and did a great job. The estimate for work completed was less than competing quotes that I received and Preservation Tree was far more responsive, easier to work with. Every contact I had with this company, including office staff, was courteous.

Mike Dunn was prompt in coming out and giving us an estimate and also kept us informed of the planned work schedule.  During the three+ days of work, the men worked very efficiently and cleaned up well at the end of each day.  The crew leader communicated frequently with me about the progress of the work and was able to fit in my requests for extra work while the crew was here.
The company uses organic products and has done excellent work for us in the past in pruning and feeding some of our specimen trees, but this was the largest project they've done for us so far.
Their estimate was not the lowest but their work is so excellent that we decided to use them anyway.  We will definitely hire them again in the future.

UPDATED: I have removed my review pending a new visit from Michael at Preservation Tree. Initially I was frustrated by the lack of response from this company and gave them a bad review, but Michael has requested that I hold my review until I meet with him next week and give him a chance to make amends. That seems fair, so I'll post an update later this spring.

This is the company you want if you are looking for people to care for your trees and your property. Preservation Tree was professional and punctual and quickly turned around the work we needed after our initial consultation. We got several people come out to give us quotes and we were very happy with preservation tree's professionalism, knowledge and willingness to work with us. The crew was professional, efficient, and took care of our property. I would highly recommend them.

I have used Preservation Tree's services several times over the past few years.  So far I have mainly had them remove dead trees and pruning, putting in supports for a leaning tree, and some other yard cleanup work.  This year I added their lawn treatment service.  I love the fact that they focus on natural and organic solutions, as opposed to chemical fertilizers.  I used other traditional chemical services for years, and I must say my lawn looked better this year with Pres Tree than it has in a long time.  I haven't yet taken the plunge to do any new tree plantings, but have had several discussions with them about good 'candidates' for certain parts of the yard based on size, shape, growth speed, etc.  Pres Tree focuses on sustainable, native Pennsylvania species, which I love. The team is always responsive, knowledgeable, professional, polite, and do a fantastic job.  Great value, great company and great people.  Highly recommend!
