"This fine young man is a Math teacher. We need to excel in math as we are in competition with China , India, and other countries . As a senior citizen, I can find the younger generation to have little respect for the elderly. This gentleman is certainly one of them. He knows more than me and wants to teach me how to run my business mathematically with great hubris. After his attack as I entered his home, shortly thereafter, I initiated a friendly conversation. He is inclined to make repairs by himself. Therefore, I encouraged him and offered to help him via the phone at any time. That not withstanding, I reduced my fee for his satisfaction and he still continues with his idle rhetoric. My 40 year experience in the gas industry trained by PECO, and the 1 hour response time for the appointment ....made my day ... apparently not his. Which happens to be a milestone in the fireplace repair industry in this area. Stay safe and God bless."
"This fireplace business is seasonal work and all service providers are slammed between October and the end of the year. As noted the customer got a quick response and a accurate diagnosis. The industry is fraught with perils , as their are very few excellent service technicans working on all makes and models. I am probably the only provider that leaves an option for the customer to save money and order parts on their own, if they choose. Then if requested I will come back and install them. These D/V units costs between 5 and 10 thousand dollars to replace. I try my best to repair them when possible. I can't tell you how many companies will try to get the customer to replace these particular unit's for close to ten thousand dollars. When I leave this option the parts are not returned to original condition because they need to be replaced and thrown away. If this customer got back to me when the season slowed down , I would of continued to save him the exorbitant expense of most retailers to repair or replace his unit. The majority of consumers are not reading the owners manual and doing the regular maintenance required and can end up in unpredictable expensive repair/replace circumstances.Remember when another opinion comes in to service your product most will do the diagnostics and apply that fee to their repair. A small price to pay reaching out at a second opinion and conclusion to a untimely and expensive repair. To all the members, sorry it took so long for a response as I am just getting to see this customers predicament ."
"Very sorry about this service call. I had an emergency come up and was negligent in communications with the customer. To all reading this , please, if I am not at your property within a reasonable timeline, call me, and I will get back to you and give a current status on the call. I am a one man band and can get bombed with calls from the Tri -State area as the season changes. Most wait till there is a problem and omit the regular maintenance that is required for these units, that could be done off season. God bless, Joe O'Neill"
"I just happen to be looking today at my reviews and came across this one. Unfortunately I don't remember the circumstances on this one. The work experience that has accrued over the many years is a about forty in the gas industry, trained by the local utility. I've been in the main-line as well as evening calls into Chester, Pa.At 60 years of age I tend to be tolerant of most customers and reach out to them whenever I can, and go far beyond the average technician.I just have no response to Member, as my recollection to his demands may of been unreasonable. May God continue to bless you richly, Member Many blessings to you and yours."
