I called the company's owner, Ed Rhodes, to come give us an estimate on installling 70' of post & rail fence. He came within the hour -very prompt- and measured, then presented me with an estimate. From here, things got way too expensive. He estimated the materials alone would cost him $450, and the entire job, with labor, would cost $1,000. My husband decided to do the job himself, and also to enlarged the area we wanted to fence to 90'. The materials, retail, only cost him $450. I assume that the fence company would have had access to wholesale prices. Mr. Rhodes also said 3 men would take a day to install the 70' of fence. My husband, an amateur in his 50s, did it himself in two days. The estimate seemed really high to us. Of course, a company has the right to charge whatever they want to; however, the materials estimate seemed a little less than honest. I would not use this company in the future, although I have no reason to believe their work isn't good.
Description of Work: No work was performed, because we thought the estimate was too high.
