Steve did what they said they were going to do and did it on time. The job was neat and the final result was outstanding. Steve was very honest and took a consultative approach prior to the sale. What impressed me the most was what occurred after the job. One of the trees that was planted never really flourished and ended up dying. I reached out to CKC well beyond the warranty and explained the situation. Within a few weeks I had a new tree. I’m not one to take the time to write reviews but I felt so compelled to do so due to the professionalism and character exhibited by Steve and his company. CKC could have easily just walked away or not responded but they went over and above to please me as a customer. At the end of the day you can’t put a price tag on strong ethics and human decency. In a time when small business owners are suffering and every penny matters CKC still put common decency ahead of the almighty dollar. When it comes to landscaping and hardscaping I won’t do business with anyone else.

It went very smoothly. We had front walkway, fireplace, extensive landscaping & original paver patio completed in Spring of 2017. In spring of 2018, decided to add additional 200 sq ft of patio w/ pergola & surrounding landscaping. Steve did a fantastic job making it look seamless and workmanship is top notch. He had some great “finishing touches” ideas that we decided to go with. Awesome attention to detail & customer service.

Awesome! Steve was super responsive from start to finish. He was able to schedule my project within 2 weeks of our first contact and it was done exactly when he said it would be. His crew kept the site clean, their work looks so great and they were very polite. I am thrilled with the final project. Thank you Steve and Mauro!

Steve Compton was very responsive and kept me informed thoroughout the project.  His estimate was not the lowest of the three I received but equal to the highest.  In talking with him and I had the most confidence that he had the experience to do the job well.  I was not wrong.  We went to contract with a complete by date, and he performed well within the parameters.  My driveway looks better now than when it was new four years ago.

His workers were polite and respected my property.  They made accommodations for me so that I could get in and out of my garage while the initial work was being done.

I highly recommend this company for paver cleaning and sealing.

Received the quote after 4 hours, work started 5 days after quote approval.  They completed the job on schedule and did a great job with the installation and cleanup.  We will certainly be using them for all future landscaping/hardscaping work!

After talking to a few companies in the summer of 2012, we had finalized CKC as one of the possible finalists. However, we could not do the project in 2012, and Steve was very professional in following up, both in 2012 and in early 2013. Being a stickler to detail and also having seen some comments in the reviews from others that showed some misunderstanding, i wanted a thorough contract and Steve was very patient and worked with me to specify very clearly our new walkway, including pictures and flower bed design and where they'd go. Mainly because of this, we went with them even though they were more expensive than some others. The walkway was done as specified and in the timeline agreed and is exactly what we had discussed and I had in my mind. CKC employees who came to do the job were very polite, friendly and tireless, hardly took breaks! During construction, the walkway ended a few square feet larger and CKC did not charge me extra. Also, they added a few bushes extra to balance out the flower bed. All the debris was removed, the lawn was re-seeded where disturbed and the work area was cleaner than before.
We are very happy with the walkway and we'd recommend CKC very highly. Steve is very polite and friendly and has a vast knowledge of plants and he is a pleasure to do business with.

The job was a large one...about 1K sqft. Four bids were sought. CKC had the best response (speed and thoroughness in design), and the best cost. Steve Compton handled the bid and design very well. The job began one week later than we expected but weather was the cause of the delay not CKC. The crew was outstanding. They were high skilled, on time every day and worked hard in addition to being professional with us and just plain good people. We enjoyed getting to know them over the two week work effort. This was a total large patio replacement. The sloping and layout are critical. We have watched the patio manage water now in very heavy rain and it is spot on to move the water where it needs to go. CKC's team did an excellent job overall. The patio looks great and is a pleasure to use. Everyone who sees it comments on how good it looks. We will use CKC again for other projects and will recommend them to others.

not good.  company repeatedly needed to return to do repairs, and every time they came and fixed the current problem, a new problem occurred.  Had to call the manufacturer to step in and explain proper installation technique to them.  work so bad I would not have them come back to repair (and they did offer to do so) and will hire another vendor. i have photos to back all this up.

We were not pleased with them.  They do a good job, it is just that their billing process.  They did not okay work to be done, it was not authorized and they assumed it was okay.  We had cancelled our contract with them and then did work afterwards and tried to bill us for it.  Their pricing is not competitive.   Their quality is fine.

We have used CKC for two projects prior to this one including the creation of a new landscaped planting bed, and a 90 foot EP Henry garden wall ranging in height from 1.5 feet to 3.5 feet. Steve, the co-owner, has always been very knowledgeable and helpful with his suggestions and implementation of the agreed to plan. He supervises his crew, and they all provide quality work. I would not hesitate to use CKC Landscaping for our next project and recommend them to others.

In all the quality of the hardscaping is excellent, we are very happy with that portion of the work.  The landscaping we are not  100% thrilled with.  I do not think we got the value for the money we spent on the landscaping.  There was not a lot of imagination in the plants that were chosen and we have had several plants die.  They do guarantee their plants for one year after planting and we have had some replaced, we are in the process of contacting them to replace the rest that have died.  We love most of the landscaping lights however; we were disappointed that they were not hardwired into the house, instead we have a juction box that is plugged into the outside socket on both the front porch and the back patio.  We probably made the mistake of assuming instead of confirming up front so definitely dig in here.  Also, we do not love the lights that run across the front walk, definitely ask to see a sample of what will be used.  At times we definitely felt that we were not wanted as a part of the process and several of our suggestions about how we wanted things to look were dismissed.
The crew that installed the front work was timely and worked hard.  They were polite and cleaned up their messes each day.  The crew that installed the back patio was a little less hardworking however; we have no complaints about the quality of the work.
There were a number of hidden costs due to some township regulations running us approximately an additional $1800.  I won't blame this on the contractors but just be aware.
I would use them again for hardscaping however; I would probably not use again for landscaping.
All in all, it is very beautiful.

"Member, Thank you for the feedback regarding your project, and I'm sorry to see your low feeling on our pricing. I know you stated you had several bids/designs when we were in the planning process and I felt I was very cautious of your stated budget desires, trying to fit in all your desired features. We overhauled your entire properties landscaping, both front and back, including patios, walls, landscaping, firepit, and lighting for less than 10% of your total homes value. A typical Landscape overhaul can cost around 15% of your properties value. If it wasn't for the severe drop off in your rear property, we would not have needed the retaining walls, thus cutting a large financial portion out of the project. 12 Volt lighting is the most common landscape lighting used today, most people that use 110v lighting in their gardens thinks it's too bright. Please remember with the back yard portion of the project a cold snap set in in late December and the average temperature for that time frame was about 25 degrees, so I would imagine that was the reason we were perceived as moving slower. We have replaced more dead shrubs at your place than on any other project, about 8 or so, and I am concerned you may have someone performing maintenance at your place using products like Roundup or something that is harming these plants. I know I have expressed this to you before, but it is very uncommon for so many plants to die off. I would also be willing to get a list from you regarding the plants you are not happy with, perhaps I can find some that interest you better and replace them. Thanks again for the feedback, and I look forward to working with you to get some more appealing plants in your gardens for you. Regards, David Connors"

Our old railroad tie retaining wall was falling down and desperately needed to be replaced. I did some research on Angie's list and found 3 contractors to get bids from. CKC's price wasn't the lowest but Dave had the best ideas for how the wall should be changed. Because the retaining wall ran to the backyard where the pool is which would cause the pool to be partially unfenced, we needed to know the exact schedule so that the fence builder could coordinate. The whole project took exactly the time that Dave said it would and we were able to get the fence up immediately. In addition to being the sales person, Dave was also the project manager and ran his own crew. Whenever I had a question Dave was available to answer it and, when needed, he came personally to check the work. It was a large project and complicated due to the need to comply with local building codes. The whole project went perfectly and the results are beautiful. Almost everyone in the neighborhood has stopped by to say how good it looks. Dave's crew was wonderful. They were unfailingly polite and cooperative. They went to extra lengths to work around my existing plantings and whenever I had a question or concern, they were quite willing to help. We have now had the wall for 6 months and we are still so pleased with the results.

After receiving a very good price, CKC began installing a stone walkway. Though they seemed more comfortable with pavers, rather than real stone, they assured us of their experience with stone, so we moved forward on the project. Big mistake. At one point, they laid out some ideas for plantings. Then before we agreed, they moved forward and removed our bushes and started planting the new ones! When we complained, we were told a few of our plantings were "ugly"! They also didn't stick to the plan of putting a curve into the main stretch of the walkway, but cut and laid it all straight. When we discussed the error, we were told it couldn't be done (yet we were told it could be done during negotiations). After the project was complete, a few dozen stones continued to lift up, if stepped on their edges, creating trip hazards. Workmanship was very poor and management needs some lessons in working with customers. After several trips back to make corrections, we've given up and no longer want them involved. We will be searching for another contractor to make future repairs/corrections. If natural stone is what you want, stay away!

"The member recently contacted me to come back and look at the walkway. She stated that the walkway was “falling apart” and that grass was growing in the joints of the stone. Upon inspection I was very surprised to see what excellent shape this walkway was in, and to what extent the conditions were misrepresented. I have pictures of this walkway on my web site (pictures #8 and #9). In those pictures you can (sort of) see the landscaping they had installed after we were finished the walkway. The member waited until the last minute to choose her stone, and the stone that she chose could not be used for the slight curve on a flexible base. I spent allot of time discussing the flexible base process with her and thought she understood why this was. The member misrepresented her intentions regarding the landscaping, and in my opinion led me to believe she wanted my company to handle it as part of this project. After receiving the verbal go ahead, I purchased the plants and installed them. After the new plants were in she informed me that she did not want us to handle it, so I removed the shrubs and she had what you see installed. I realize that I am not going to be able to please everyone, but I have genuinely tried in this case. I feel as though I was tricked into handling all the preparation work for the landscaping, lesson learned on my part. I would question why he rated us a “D” in punctuality and responsiveness as we showed up on time, performed the work in the expressed time, and I was always punctual with all our appointments. I feel as though this rating is unfair and we did an awesome job for a great price and that this report is totally unjustified."

They do excellent work. I have used them in the past and would use them again in a heart beat. Their price is a little high but you get what you pay for. I get compliments on the patio all of the time. I had a swell and they to did some extra drainage to meet the township guidelines. I have not had any problems with the work they did.

Outstanding experience and I will certainly use CKC for future projects. Steve came out to give me the initial consultation and quote. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. After getting competitive quotes, I decided to use CKC because of a few reasons. One reason being that I always try and use local companies whenever possible, and the other was the professionalism they displayed during the consultation. After scheduling the job, they showed up on time (and completed the job within the allotted time that was quoted. The most impressive part of the entire experience was how the walkway turned out. It definitely came out better than I expected. It was beautifully integrated into my existing patio with precise cuts. They also installed a drain which seems to have been installed properly. I'll have to wait until we get a good soaking rain to see for sure, but I'm not expecting any issues. To top it all off, they even leveled off all the surrounding grass and earth and reseeded the areas that needed it. Nice touch. Two thumbs up for a great job.

I'm writing this review about 5 weeks after completion of the work. Overall, they did a great job, with only a few glitches. They provided a clear estimate, followed-up and I think the final price was very fair. The paver work is excellent and is clearly of better workmanship than the existing paver patio - especially the workmanship of the curved part of the patios. The final result of the flat work turned out just as planned and right on schedule. It is clear that these guys knew what they were doing and this was probably a really easy project for them. Their "clean-up" was also excellent. Each day things were put away and at the end they did a fantastic job of landscaping with top soil and over-seeding all the disturbed areas. They even tried to fix the crummy job the electician's (see my review of Electric Man) did of covering over their trenching. It's been a little over a month and everything still looks great. There were three aspects that weren't so wonderful. First, the 6"x6" posts aren't at and even 48" spacing as planned. One is off several inches and it's noticable and the job of installing the 48" lattice panels will now involve lots of cuts. Second, I told them they could dump some excess dirt at the back of my yard and pointed to where they could dump it. After they had left, I noticed that they didn't dump the dirt anywhere near where I told them to, but instead dumped it right in the middle of our nature trail into the woods. Third, although I offered the use of the bathroom conveniently accessible in the walk-out basement, they went into the woods behind my house to relieve themselves. By the time I noticed, the project was about over. Had my wife seen them, she'd have blown a fuse! This is why I gave them a lower score on professionalism.
