Chapman Windows and Doors

I could not be more pleased and impressed with the Chapman experience. From the minute Mr. Chapman came out to assess the project till the day the job was complete. Chapman was first rate. Because of the pandemic it took awhile for the windows, etc to arrive from the manufacturer(s) but Chapman kept me in the loop during the wait Once the work was scheduled the crew (Ron and Mike and their associates) showed up on time and were a pleasure to have around. Ron, Mike and their crew were extremely polite, appear to enjoy working with each other, and everyone (regardless of their role) took pride in their work. The job took approximately a week to complete. During that time, the job site was protected throughout the job duration and cleaned up each evening. The demo work they needed to do to support the installation efforts was surgical and precise. The crew installed an interior wood (dutch) door and exterior entry door. Everything came prepped. Chapman matched the existing Baldwin hardware and woodwork for the interior door and provided quality locks and hinges for the exterior door. The window installation far exceeded my expectations as it was not a normal window install. The crew replaced a series of 12 windows that form a window array. They not only matched existing windows I had, but the care the crew took in installing, trimming out and finishing the new windows inside and out was extraordinary. Beautiful craftsmanship and attention to detail. The pictures don't do justice to the installation. I could not be more pleased. I would not hesitate to recommend Chapman and I would not hesitate to utilize Chapman's services again.

After engaging several firms to explore alternatives and develop estimates for replacement windows, we signed a contract with Chapman Windows and Doors. From start to finish - a wonderful experience with excellent and beautiful results. We received an immediate and very professional/pleasant response to our initial call. We were able to easily schedule an in-house appt to discuss our need and possible solutions. No pressure - just a very good conversation that addressed our needs/concerns. Our visit to the showroom was very beneficial, and we received great consultation on available windows - the pros and cons of each. The order process was straight forward and we reached agreement on installation dates. The installation team was A plus. They arrived on time, confirmed our order, and got right to work. They worked non stop, and did meticulous work. Clean up was great. It was obvious that the crew worked as an orchestrated team, were proud of their work, and skilled in detailed craftsmanship including creating new interior trim, capping the windows, filling in nail holes and painting. We couldn't have asked for a better overall experience. The results are outstanding, and every interaction we had with the staff and installers was engaging, professional, and informative.

Please do not walk but RUN from this company. Long story, but I will provide a few details. A few years ago we purchased 3 sets of patio doors from Chapman. To install the first patio door, Chapman sent one elderly employee to my house. I had to assist him and get the patio door set out of his truck and carry it up to my house. This employee smoked cigarettes while he worked on the patio door and allowed smoke to enter our home the entire day. We spent approximately $7k on these doors. This is just a small detail in a long story of working with an unethical company that provided poor craftsmanship and takes no ownership of its faulty work. In all, we had issues with all 3 sets of doors installed by Chapman. They also installed two sets of french doors in my basement without removing the interior trim. There was a 2 inch gap all around each set of doors after the install was complete. They had to send back an employee for 8 hours to fix what they told me were properly installed doors. I was told that our house walls were not square. You could see the outside air from inside the house. Not only did they do an awful job, but they had their employee, Michelle, lie about what happened in an email. I'm more than happy to share this email with anyone who wants it so you can see what you may have to deal with if you choose to do business with this company. I shake my head in disgust as I write this review, b/c I cannot believe this company is still in business. In the end they offered me $900 to RETURN a door that cost over $2k. I have copies of emails exchanged, a video of the door that Michelle from Chapman claims is "normal", and a copy of her condescending, untruthful email. Shockingly, I have heard nothing from Chapman management. I realize there are 2 sides to every story, but believe me when I tell you that if you have an issue with this company, they will not make it right. I wish I read a review like this before we chose this company to do work on our home. As stated, I'm more than willing to share additional info, emails, and videos if this helps your decision in choosing between contractors. Save yourself a major headache and RUN from this company. As I promised to Chapman in an email, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure other customers not only know how this company has treated us, but also to expose the quality of their work, or lack of I should say. No integrity, dishonest, and they should be ashamed!! Consider yourself warned if you decide to do business with Chapman.

They were phenomenal.

They had to do some remodeling around the door. They had to come back a lot and they were really good about coming back and everything. There was one guy that was a little questionable, but we told them about it and they sent someone else.

The price was competitive but it was a bumpy road the whole time. I had them deliver the door and during the delivery process a piece of the packaging was knocked loose and cut me across the bridge of my nose. The company's only response was "sometimes these things happen." I couldn't believe it! You just don't say things like that do a customer. The guy who did the installation did a great job, except he didn't fill in the nail holes, leaving the job unfinished. After making several calls I was able to get the president to come out to look at things. He showed up around 7:30am on the appointed day but without advising me of the time he was coming. After looking things over, even though I pointed out the part of the contract covering the issue, he refused to discount me even the cost of doing the work myself. I would never recommend this company to anyone. The service representatives, and even the president of the company were very rude and didn't seem to care much about good customer service.

They arrived on time and finished up in about 3 hours. They cleaned up any "mess" they made. After it was done, the installer reviewed the job with us and explained the different components of the door.

Good communication, good scheduling, good work and they treated my tenant well. They were clean and neat.

Office staff was good to deal with ... answered questions, did not try to oversell, offered options.
Installation staff was prompt, courteous, professional ... home was completely cleaned when they left. They were able to accommodate a last minute change in the installation schedule with no problem. 
If anyone is looking for or in need of windows, do yourself a favor and contact Chapman.

This was my second time using Chapman because of their excellent work. They are a very well respected and trusted company. The entire staff is very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. George, the salesperson did an excellent job in explaining the different types of windows. Mark was very prompt coming out to the house to do the measurements. I was very satisfied with the estimate and the quick response. Dave contacted me for arranging a date for the work. Eric did an excellent job installing the windows. Jackie does an excellent job of record keeping and keeping the customer informed. The entire job was completed in two days. One of Chapman's qualities is the excellent communication with the customer. Thank you.

Company 's employees were very professional and provided excellant sevice from the first visit for the estimate ..to install to the follow-up .  Good advice at the showroom and the in- home estimate to make sure I would be happy with the door I choose . The installers are good craftsmen ....everything perfectly done.....and left the rooms so clean no one would even know they had just installed the door . Very happy with the Chapman Company .

Wrote a review previously about Chapman's in Dec 2012. Overall positive experience. They installed a door and with that door we purchased "quality" polished brass hardware by EMTEK with a  Life time warranty. Hmmmm. Had to have EMTEK hardware replaced to due progressive pitting within the first year.  Chapman's replaced hardware without cost. Second handle again began to pit within the first year of being replaced. Pitting was only on exterior of house. We are not in industrial area or coastal area that might explain pitting to hardware. Pitting continued to progress, wish I could share pictures on this site, and has been progressively worsening,  now looking like something from a dollar store. We have kept Chapman's updated regarding progressive pitting since the second handle was installed. Decided it looks so horrible again needed once again to have it replaced. Chapmans contacted EMTEK who again denies any known issue with their polished brass hardware having issue with pitting. They will once again provide replacement hardware as there is a lifetime warranty. The rub is that we now have to pay, amount to be determined, last estimate given was $85.00 to have hardware installed by Chapman's. 

 I call EMTEK talked to supervisor, Nicole, who just doesn't get the point that a customer should not have to repeatedly incur the cost to replace EMTEK hardware that has a lifetime warranty. Lifetime warranty or not the hardware should not deteriorate so rapidly. She just kept referring me back to Chapmans. Chapmans does not make the product, they just sell it and they say the product is covered but not the labor. I get that to a degree. Maybe they should question the quality of the product they are selling, warn customers of potential problems etc. Anyway suggestion is AVOID EMTEK PRODUCTS, THEY ARE AWFUL AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS. Chose another brand of hardware.

Windows were installed and we even needed extra work due to minor termite damage, they were a huge help.

They gave me options to save money. They were very timely and showed up with a large crew. They got the work done in a couple of hours. The results are excellent. They cleaned up well after themselves.

We were very happy with Chapman Windows and Doors. Everyone was courteous, responsive and helpful. The installers were very friendly and thorough. They did the work quickly and came back to check on things right away when I had some questions. The price was fair (we obtained several quotes). I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

Our experience with Chapman Windows and Doors was very positive. They replaced our roof and siding, as well as the kitchen and laundry room windows. They also replaced our deck. Each crew that worked on our home was very courteous, hard working  and professional and thoroughly cleaned up our yard of debris after each workday. Dave, who oversaw the project, was also very professional and knowledgeable. He was very responsive in answering questions we had as the work progressed. The showroom is extremely nice and has samples of products, which is very helpful. We also enjoyed dealing with Art, who is very knowledgeable and helped us with all our choices for our house.

We first used Chapman to install our windows last year.
Then we hired them to replace our siding and gutters.
They're prices are competitive.
I worked with Dave and his team with no problem. Any questions/concerns were addressed.

They did a great job and cleaned up.  I was worried because the building is old but they build-up areas that needed backing.  The building looks great now and complies with the local historic building codes. One wall was above the neighbor's roof, they took care to cover the roof, keeping it clean.

The entire experience was very positive.   The showroom was great and the sales person was very helpful and knowledgeable.  The installation was very thorough and precise and the installers were very personable and responsive to my questions.   They completed the work to my satisfaction and were very neat in the process.  They took great care to clean up after the work was completed.    I would definitely recommend Chapman to anyone looking for a positive and professional experience with door and window installation.

The doors were not installed properly. One of the door slabs does not lay flat, so I've had to add weatherstripping to keep the outside air from coming through. Also, the bottom of the door lets in water during a driving rain, so I've had to keep storm doors on the outside to keep my inside floor dry.



Chapman installed the door unit almost ten years ago. I called them back shortly after installation. They came back twice and were not able to correct the problems. I've contacted them twice since with the same result (one of these times they did not get back to me). They charged me a fee for the last service call. In my opinion, the right thing to do would have been to reinstall the door unit shortly after the initial installation so the door slabs fit properly.



I thought I was purchasing a premium product, but it didn't work out that way.

Update - Chapman Doors and Windows was very responsive in correcting these issues. Mike Chapman installed new door slabs and made some adjustments to the threshold and the weatherstripping, and now the doors fit properly. He also replaced one of the sidelights which had a air leak. The company kept me informed throughout the process as to when the new doors would arrive and when they could install them.
