Avoid this company like the plague! Mike Hamilton is the most unprofessional contractor I have ever worked with, and his work is mediocre at best. At first he comes off as a extremely nice guy, which is why I went contrary to my normal approach and paid him for the majority of the project. Once he had my money he took over six months to complete half the job and then wanted more money. So basically he took my money and never completed the job. On top of that he even tried to take the materials I bought until I got the police involved. I had to get an Amish company to come in and finish a job and they did it in literally three days. You have been warned.

Don't be fooled by the "A" ratings, Mike is known to pay people to give him a good rating. He only takes cash so he can skirt around taxes and from being tracked down to get money back after he does a poor job. Keep shopping before signing up with him.

We have a large high deck off the back of our house and because of the 12 ft height and sloping backyard, we were never able to get a staircase down to the yard and patio. It was a challenging task but Micheal and his team did a fantastic job. He finished on time and on budget and  kept me informed of his design plans beforehand and also during the project. I I felt like all my demands were met and that I had a say in how the job was to be completed, which was very important to me.. It was a great experience from start to finish. Michael knows his stuff. If you need a new deck or an addition to your existing deck, Call American Deck Builders because Mike is your guy. Everyone who sees the new stairs, admires them.

The corner support post of our deck was sinking significantly and looked very unsafe. We contacted Mike and left a message.  He returned our call that evening and made arrangements to inspect our deck.  The  quote and job overview was very reasonable and the work was scheduled. He and his companion, Scott, were very professional and communicated thoroughly what steps would be taken.  They excavated the support posts, poured concrete footers and installed new posts in a timely manner.  We requested additional work (replacement of the deck to ground stairway) and this was done in good fashion and within budget as well.  We could not have asked for a better result.  Our deck is safe, sturdy, and they left the grounds in good order.

Mike Hamelton did a fantastic job, from beginning to end.  Here are some things he did:
- met with me and my wife and got an understanding of what we were looking for

• - offered many options and pricing for each
• - created estimates required for insurance reimbursement
• - notified me whenever he was coming to do work, and when he could not do work, and why
• - cleaned up the work area on a daily basis
• - spoke with the insurance company repeatedly to move support the estimates
• - removed all of the existing flooring off of my deck, which took longer to do than expected, but didn't charge extra
• - reinforced the deck foundation where the removal of the flooring made the underlying structure unstable
• - laid the new decking down with precision and accuracy 
• - patched stucco as necessary, as previous rail was attached to the house
• - upgraded our fascia board around the deck
• - replaced existing railing with PVC and upgrades required to meet current regulations
• - added stable, robust, and attractive stair/rail system
• - came up with creative solutions to some difficult situations the existing deck provided

Mike did all of the above through this past winter, which was really a difficult time.  It is worth noting that the weather conditions made it impossible to do many of the cuts without damaging the material.  Rather than rush through, Mike was aware of this and explained to me why it was best to delay some work.
I highly recommend Mike to anyone.  Rest assured he will give your project his personal attention and in the end, he will be proud of the end product, and you will be happy.

Mike, Brian and their team did a great job, the new deck looks awesome. What I really liked the most about the project was that they left the site clean and safe, each and every day. Mike was also good about keeping us informed about the start date and delays when we were waiting for trim pieces to arrive.

The experience with American Deck Builders was good. I really liked them and we definitely would have used them if we were going to go through with the project. They had a lot of good ideas, they sound like they knew what they were talking about, the price was not low because it seemed like they were using quality material.

From start to finish, Mike and Brain were easy to work with professional at every stage of the project. The design of the dack was a and quot;work in progressand quot; and we made some monor changes to the plan as it was being built. Each time we inquired abuut a small change, they were courteous and patient with my wife.
At the end of the project, it ebd result far exceeded my expectations.
