Bachman's Roofing Building & Remodeling Inc - Northeastern PA

BUYERS BEWARE! We were excited to sign the contract and really felt that this was the correct choice for a rental we own after reviewing feedback on Google, HOWEVER, we were so WRONG. Salesman assured us that was no difference between paying cash, credit card, money order, etc. To our surprise, credit cards ARE charged an additional 3 percent surcharge. This would have been nice to know after spending over 37,000.00 for a roof. Their response was, well we have no control over what the salesman tells you and there is absolutely nothing they can do about the surcharge. So as the roof was being installed we were told by the supervisor on duty that all the debris would be cleaned up upon completion but that did not happen. In fact our tenants sent us pictures of handfuls of nails, staples and debris that was scattered all over the gravel parking lot that surrounds the front and side of house. Called Bachman's the following day and they sent out a project manager to view the debris, but WE were REQUIRED to be there when he arrived. The project supervisor cleaned up some of the nails, but not all since he only had a tiny magnet and this is a huge parking area. He said the crew that installed the roof is from Trenton, NJ and he would need to send them out in the next few days to clean things up. He said that they use "hundreds of nails when installing a roof and if a hundred drop to the parking area, well that's pretty good", WOW! We were also told by the project supervisor that he was INSTRUCTED NOT TO LEAVE until he had a check in hand for full payment, even though the property is surrounded by debris, nails and staples. We did not have our checkbook on us at the time so he followed us home and waited outside our house until the check was handed to him. After giving him the "post dated" check, we told him to wait three days for the money to transfer to the checking account otherwise our account would be overdrawn WHICH HE AGREED TO. Needless to say, he cashed the check the VERY SAME DAY that it was handed to him, OUCH VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, now we are facing over withdrawal banking fees. The only thing this company cares about is the money (and they need it IMMEDIATELY) even though you are not happy that your property is surrounded by staples, nails and roofing debris. The picture below was collected from only a 3' X 3' area. We are current owners of a family-run business for years and have NEVER and will NEVER treat a customer in this manner. Please take our advise and STAY AWAY. Bachman's is way over-priced and we should have chosen one of the 5 other roofing competitors who were at least 13,000.00 less than Bachman's. LESSON LEARNED THE HARD WAY.

We had Bachman's install new siding and gutters. They did a beautiful job! The workers were friendly and neat.

Called for an appt and an estimator was quickly there within two days. In the end, the estimate was for more to be done than we had asked for (I'll take responsibility for that. I think my wife and I explained our needs to him differently.) I got in touch with him and apologized for the confusion, asking if he could update the estimate for me. He responded and said he'd definitely do that. Well, it's been a month now with no response. We've decided to go with another contractor.

We had a roof and window capping project done by Bachmans starting this past November 4th. I say starting because we were told that both projects could be done in one day of work. The quote was reasonable and we accepted. After the roof was completed we noticed the windows we asked to be capped were not done. It was a Friday morning when we noticed the issue and I emailed over the weekend to let the person who did the estimate know. I then got a phone call on Monday letting me know the project was marked as complete and I would be getting an invoice by email. I explained the situation and was told someone would reach out. The second person spoke to me like I was a child and said the crew reported doing the 3 requested window caps on the back of the home. As it turns out the estimator labeled the schematics of my house wrong with the front (facing the side) as the back so they actually REMOVED existing caps and replaced them. But she would forward the information to production. They call and give me more runaround asking which windows I needed done. The ones that are still unfinished! Finally after several phone calls I was told a crew would stop by "when they were in the area next". Over 3 weeks goes by and I get a phone call that they will come the next day. No one showed up. I call them back December 23rd and I'm pretty irritated. They promise to have someone out on Monday the 27th. Not holding my breath. Day of, they cancel because of weather. Ok I understand that, I don't want the crew working in bad weather. FINALLY the next day they finish the windows. Almost 2 months after the "one day" project. I get the invoice, and I question it because the job took so long to complete. I had director of operations Carl Rost calling me within 5 minutes. He was extremely rude and condescending during the entire phone call and kept insisting the team did more than the job they were asked to do. I never asked for them to do extra work. Looking at my home it's incredibly obvious which side is the front and even if not, the instructions were to cap the 3 windows not remove and replace existing capping. Overall the work is done, but the customer service, communication and the way we were treated was unacceptable and I will not be using or recommending them in the future.

Excellent from the time I left a message on Angie's list til the time.e the project was completed. Beckham's responded promptly and sent an appraisal team out. Both Jon Unger and his partner where respectful, listened to all I had to say, and spent time explaining what needed to be done. They were extremely thorough on examining my roof, attic, chimney, gutters. There was NO high pressure from them. The appraisal was within my thoughts of the cost. Once the job was completed, I was totally delighted. Bachman is team was right on time, they all were respectful, took care of protecting the house and yard from debris. They worked well as a team, I was showed pictures of my roof where plywood was need to be replaced. The entire roof and cleanup was done by 4 pm. I have not found any debris, nails, garbagw , etc. All the lights were replaced to there original spots! Perfect job! Perfect team! Perfect roofing company!! My house looks great with the new roof and gutters! You can not go wrong with this company. Excellent workmanship!

We requested quotes from contractors for the replacement of our home's original asphalt roof (three tab standard). Bachmans was very competitive. We appreciated their approach to inspection of the roof, discussion of details in the roof line and practices and features they use to provide a quality roof replacement. Chris Jameson worked with us on a second bid when we decided we wanted a different shingle than first proposed. Bachman's installs the major manufacturers and is certified as a quality installer for CertainTeed and GAF (perhaps others). We selected a CertainTeed Landmark Pro product with extended warranty. They use best practices such as site-fabricated soldered copper flashing. They gave us a couple days notice of the install date and arrived at 7AM and departed by around 5 PM. They did a fine job protecting foundation plantings and the house during construction and a very good job cleaning up (we have had roofs done on three houses and they did probably the best job in picking up). We had a small issue regarding the manufacturer of the ice and water shield underlayment material - Bachman's installed a non-CertainTeed product due to availability issues. Chris and his management contacted CertainTeed during the day of installation to provide us email documentation that the alternate product was acceptable. The chimney painting was with a high quality Sherwin Williams product - they came to clean it one day and back to paint the next. All the work looks good and after a couple rainstorms appears to be solid, as expected. As noted, we would consider using Bachman for other work based on this experience.

I was dreading having this done but Bachman's made it a breeze. They came out and did the initial inspection, took photos and provided me with a quote within 48 hours. They contacted me a week before the start date, which was a Monday and advised a dumpster would be delivered on Friday. Monday morning they arrived at 6:45 AM and started right at it. My husband was very impressed, everyone on the crew had a specific job and it just flowed. I had 2 old layers up there to come off, they had the entire job done and cleaned up by 4:00 PM. I only gave them a B in price, because I did receive cheaper quotes, however, the time frame to do the job was 2-3 days, which would be a huge interruption for me since I work from home and on the phone most of the day, so having it done in one day alleviated me having to take days off work. The crew was polite, professional, efficient. I have already referred to others. Thanks so much.

Instead of replacing all our gutters as had been recommended by another organization, they simply replaced a downspout and reinforced our existing gutters which solved the problem and saved us money. Honest, knowledgeable and professional. Would definitely use them again!

Gutter replacement and sidewalk cut for drain.

They were excellent. I got an Angie's List discount and I am very pleased with them because they did a good job with my old home where it is 4 stories in the back. I would highly recommend them.

Estimate was too high. ($1,078.00) for 12' of gutter and 40' of down spout. I did the job for $87.00.

A very professional company. Excellent job and a good feeling that my money was well spent. Arrived at agreed upon time and completed the work thoroughly.

Instead of replacing our gutters, which we expected, they recommended the much smaller and less costly plan of replacing a downspout with a larger one. I appreciated their honesty.

We were within 3 weeks of closing on selling our house. Que hail storm over labor day weekend. Buyers knew neighbors and found out they were getting a new roof. So then we had to get damage reports etc from a roofer and our insurance. There was some roof damage. Our insurance agreed to pay out $7,000+ for repairs, but not a full roof replacement. Full replacement was going to be $15,000. Insurance was to mail out a $4,900+ Check to us that we would get endorsed by the mortage company and then by us and which we would then turn over to the buyer for them to make the repairs. 2 days before closing we found out the insurance company wouldn't release the rest of the money unless there was a contract for repair in place, by us, the sellers. After a conversation with the Bachman's, our Realtor, their Realtor, and the Insurance, it was agreed that with certain wording on the contract that we (sellers) would sign it. We received it 20 minutes before closing and had no choice but to sign it so the sale of the home would go through. With no desire to cheat the buyer, we signed an amendment to our agreement of sale stating any and all insurance monies would be turned over to the buyer. 3 days later we finally have a chance to read the contract and we are on the hook for everything coming and going and responsible for allowing the roofers on site and access to the property. We were on the hook for supplies that the current owner chooses over and above the contract price. Fortunately we found the 3 day clause to cancel the contract which we did. Instead of using that as an opportunity to contact the buyer (its not like you didn't know where they lived) Greg McNulty contacted our insurance company and told them that we had cancelled the contract. Meaning the buyer has now missed out on over $2,000 for the repair of their roof. Do they not realize that they didn't screw us, the seller. They screwed the buyer. Our Realtor is contacting their Realtor. What are the chances do you think that the new buyer is going to go with Bachman? 0 Skip this over priced company.

The crew arrived in early morning. They removed multiple layers of shingles and had to replace a good amount of bad wood underneath. The chimney also was re-pointed. They had the new roof on before dark. Two days later a different crew installed the new gutters. I had two minor complaints and an early morning crew arrived the next day to fix them. One complaint was not even in scope but I asked them to fix some dislodged siding (existing damage) while they were up there and they did.

We had two areas where we needed vinyl siding repair. One was melted, burnt siding by the entryway and the other was wind damage at the top of the side of our house. Most people who came out to give estimates would only do total siding replacement, usually between 15-20K. We were only interested in repairs. They gave us an estimate higher than I was expecting, but still within our budget. After payment of 1/3 of the cost, they gave me a two week window when they would have a crew out. Their crew arrived after 2 days. My only compaint was that I didn't receive a call beforehand, so I could ensure I was home. Since they didn't have the right siding to exactly match my old stuff, they only did the entryway, and looked good with a slightly different shape. Since the wind-damaged siding needed to match exactly, they had to special-order it since its an old model. They refused to let me pay for the first half of the job. After about 3 weeks, they called and said they had the siding in. The next day, they came out and installed it. Wow, they did a great job! you cannot tell where the repair was. There is no difference between the new and old stuff. I was very impressed and very happy. The only reason I didn't give an excellent for overall was because they should have had the right stuff the first time and not need to come back. This is an organizational issue and in no way reflected on the outstanding professionalism and quality work of their siding crew. I will definitely use Bachman again for any future roofing/siding/gutter work I need.

TERRIBLE they never showed up on the day they gave me for the appointment would never recommend this Co. called them the day of the appointment told me they donot have it written down what an excuse they should be off your list

I am extremely impressed with the professionalism and work ethics of the employees who were on site at my home for my roof. The equipment used was impressive, they work in a very neat manner, my property was protected/covered for any materials and best of all; no tire tracks left behind! They were on time, had all materials needed, worked in a consistent manner and when completed, left my property spotless. The employees are very professional and these guys know exactly what they are doing. I am very satisfied with the quality of the materials used and my roof looks amazing. Thanks to foreman Juan for explaining the step process and materials being used and most of all, for having a great crew! Doing a roof is a huge improvement to your home and a big investment. I highly recommend Bachman's and would definitely use them again in the future.
