Initially, we attempted to refinance our home via Patriot. Between my wife and I, we've held five loans with Patriot, two of which still open (my wife's current vehicle loan and a personal loan for our roof replacement in '11). The communication between the mortgage representatives and my wife and I were well above par, until the "end." We spent $450 per agreements to have our home appraised by a local appraisal firm. Unfortunately, our home appraised for $18000 less than it did in 2010 (prior to initial purchase). We were told we could still refinance if we were able to bring the difference to the table. Otherwise, there was nothing that could be done. Have a nice day. It is also interesting to note, we had purchased a new vehicle in September of 2012. Our local new vehicle dealer showed us rates, Patriot not being the lowest. This was the first time we had purchased a new vehicle, and the first time out of four vehicle loans, that we did not go with Patriot for a vehicle loan. During the refinancing process, our loan specialist suggested they could match our current loan on our new vehicle after securing a refinance on our mortgage. Once we were notified of negative equity as aforementioned, there was no further discussion of obtaining the loan of our vehicle loan. Presently, while shocked at how much equity we have lost in 33 months, I'm nearly stunned by the fact that Patriot severed any communication upon this discovery. We could not financially bring $18000 to the closing, nor was their any communication forwarded regarding our vehicle loan with another financial institution. Frankly, I am stunned. I've overcame the fact our home did not appraise for what it needed to. Shockingly, they did not secure the home refinance, and now, they have 0% interest in securing our vehicle loan.
