In 2008, when they fixed the gutter to stop the basement leakage, they were really quick, responsive, and concerned. They came back out quickly when it became clear that their first fix hadn't worked, and the job went quickly and successfully. I thought the price, a bit over $500, was fair for the amount of work that was done.
In 2010, I called them because of a musty smell and suspected leakage from a roof vent. They indicated that they would need to send two employees out, they would inspect the roof and gutters while they were there, and that it would be pretty labor intensive, so the price they quoted me was a little over $1000. Since I had had good luck with the company before, and since I didn't know what was really causing the leak, I agreed. They were fairly prompt, but instead of the two guys, there was only one. He wandered around the roof for about an hour (it's a pretty steep roof with lots of levels), sealed the flashing around the roof vent, tightened a couple of shingles, and looked at the gutters. I think he may have tightened one gutter. When he said he was done, I was fairly surprised at how quick it had been, but figured he was efficient, I actually thought perhaps the bill would be cut a bit since there was only one person and it only took an hour or so. Not. The bill remained more than $1,000. The leak was stopped, but from what I saw, I think I was overcharged.
Bottom line - I think the company is good at what they do, and I trust their work. I think one should be a bit more vigilant than I was in determining what the actual job should entail, though. My guess is that they were quite busy, and I ended up paying more because it was almost too small a job for them to undertake profitably. Just a guess.
