KUHN'S FLOOR SANDING & FINISHING

Chris and his team were great . Showed up when scheduled and the floors are great . Six months ago I had laminate installed in my living room because I thought the hardwood was too damaged . I should have called Kuhns first because they made my bedrooms look brand new and I am sure they would have done the same for my living room! Great job Chris and team !

Excellent, the floors are beautiful.

Chris and his guys did a fantastic job - totally exceeded my expectations. Recently bought a home that had pet stains on the flooring. I thought that they would surely show through so I chose a dark stain to camouflage them. They were able to get down far enough and completely remove the stains so I was able to go with a lighter stain that I truly wanted. Love it!

They were professional and friendly. Their price is not outrageous. Kuhn's gave a fair price and I believe that they would have done an excellent job. There were also some repairs to be made which the price included. Even though we did not hire Kuhn's, I feel comfortable in highly recommending them. I like the fact that they responded the same day that I had first called them. Chris came out on Monday, June 8 to explain and answer some questions even though he knew that we were not quite sure what we were planning to do with the floors. He is a nice guy and not at all pushy. It is hard to find people who really care about the potential customer and will come meet them personally to explain. My husband and I would have been very comfortable in using their services. Refinishing hard wood flooring truly is their specialty. To sum up - great response, knowledgeable, and true experts. Also, fair pricing.

A great team to work with - guys were punctual and courteous. They stained the floors a darker color and they came out great. We just purchased the home, so there wasn't any furniture in. It was a quick job and they were able to work around our carpet install mid week.

.Chris was punctual for estimate visit friendly and professional.  Explained to us exactly what his crew would do and what to expaect. Set work date. Punctual, professional, courteous. Floors look great.

Overall, they did a great job on what they did.  They left the house clean, floors were well-sanded and the stain application was even and looked great.
The job included a stairwell and a dining room with quarter round baseboard molding.  The stairs ? stringers, risers, and treads ? were originally finished the same way (no stain and clear poly).  The job specification, and what they wrote on my invoice, was "sand and stain hardwood floors and steps".  What they did was to sand ONLY the treads of the stairs, ignoring the stringers and risers.  When asked, Chris said "we don't do the stringers or risers".  That seems a little odd to me.  Maybe that's a convention that all the world except me knows, but I doubt it.  I would expect a diligent professional to have been more precise in setting expectations.

 They also neglected to sand and/or stain the corner round.  It had NOT been previously finished, but I would have expected a diligent professional to ask for clarification instead of just ignoring it.

 Bottom line is that I got left with a small job that no one wants to come out for, which is kind of a pain.
Again, the work they did was great.  I was just disappointed that they didn't do the whole job as requested.

UPDATE: As we have started to paint baseboard, we have found that these guys really chewed up the quarter round with the edger in a number of places. Not sure why they didn't suggest taking the moulding off.  I suppose it could be my fault for not thinking of it, but I expect a professional to inform me of what is required for a high-quality job.  All in all, I got a decent sanding and staining job done by Kuhns, a tedious repair job to do myself, and some newfound wisdom.

We found ourselves in a bit of a jam, needing to have our hardwood floors refinished in a 2 week period after another contractor fell through. We made dozens of calls, only to find that most would not be able to fit our project into their schedule, or at least do so at a reasonable price. That changed when we connected with Chris at Kuhns. Hhe sent three guys over within 24 hours of us connecting, and the job was completed a week later. Chris was highly responsive both via phone and text, and the floors look brand new. Prices were reasonable as well, approximately $3.50 per square foot. Based on the conversations we've had with other floor specialists, we came to believe that $3.00-$4.00 per square foot was a good range. I would highly recommend Kuhn's to anyone with a flooring project on their hands and would most certainly use them again.

Needed hardwood floors refinished. Called and was told he would call back. He did but I missed his call but called back within the hour. Answering service told me they would give him the message. The same thing the next day still with no success. Obviously he doesn't need my business.

Very prompt with providing quote. Started and completed job on time. Very clean process - never left any mess. Floor looks great - had a lot of prior damage due to pets. I would hire again.
