In October of 2018 I ordered a solid core interior door from Home Depot, including installation. This was not a pre-hung door so Home Depot installer James came out and measured the door opening. Home Depot did not install the door until January 10, 2019. At that time James told me he had measured the door wrong and needed to trim the frame to make the door fit. Even though the door was a solid core door he told me he did not want to cut the door to make it fit. James assured me that the frame finish would be professional and attractive but it is anything but that (I have pictures). I filled out the survey Home Depot requested expressing my dissatisfaction with the door. I received a message on my answering service a few weeks later, which was from James. I did not return the call as I do not want to speak to James or have him in my house again. I feel that this is justified as the quality of work is atrocious. I stopped at the Washington, PA branch of Home Depot, from which I had purchased the door, and talked to a manager on Sunday, March 24th. The manager did not give me his name. He told me that James was their only door installer and he could have James come out or he could give me a 10% discount. I am not interested in either as a reasonable solution. I would like to select an installer in whom I have confidence and have Home Depot pay to correct James work. I have in mind Handyman Matters South Pittsburgh, which is an A-rated Angie’s List provider and has done excellent work for me in the past. They last billed me $69 an hour in 2017 and I anticipate it might be a full day’s work. The other option is for Home Depot to refund my money and they can take their door back. If they will give me a date I will have it on my front porch for them.

We had two entry doors replaced with steel doors and storm doors added on each. Our house was built in 1920 and the previous doors were in bad shape - especially one that had a rotted sill from a previous bad installation, so there was custom work that also needed done. Home Depot had the best price... at least one competitor gave us a quote of over $8000! While it did take some time for the custom doors to be ordered, that's to be expected. It took a while to get on the books for service, but our installer James did a fantastic job. It was a two-day job and he was a bit late because of some issues with his truck tires, but he was able to get the tires changed and arrive with enough time to get the job finished. James also had to do a lot of custom work, especially on the back door with the bad sill, and I'm quite happy with how professional it looks. I would definitely recommend the service.

The only issue I had was them coming back to pick up leftover supplies when the work was done. They always answered my called but it did take some time to get there and get their things.

They were pretty good, they used subcontractors. The job took less then a week with three or four workers. They cleaned the area well.

The kitchen designer was very helpful in choosing and purchasing counters. The counter measuring was subcontracted and didn't go so well. Had to pay to have it done twice since the person who measured didn't seem to listen or get what I wanted. Even then, the piece didn't fit when it came and was cut at a slant that was not indicated on the spec printout. I had to adjust at my end to make it fit and the whole thing took weeks longer to resolve. The actual installers were professional and efficient but the weak link was the measurer. Home Depot itself was responsive and professional. They delivered and set up appliances. I would use them again for this kind of work but not counters.

We had to wait about 4 weeks for them to install our hardwood but we were very pleased with their promptness and also their price.  They were about 1/3 the price of other quotes we received.  The work looks great... you can't even tell the difference between the hardwood that was laid 9 years ago and the hardwood which was laid two weeks ago.  Very pleased with their work!

Home Depot is local. They are the same as any big store. I don't know if we have ever dealt with customer service before. The employees have been polite and professional when we have asked them things. Their stock is pretty good.

Everything they did was good except for delays in placing the order, but I am not sure if it was their fault or that of the installer. He came out and took the measurements, but it was another week before the order was placed. When the order came in, there was a telephone communication problem, and we lost about another week before we got the thing installed. I’m not sure it was his fault because the phone system is bad. Their professionalism was excellent, everybody was good.

They did a good job and they were the lowest price for everything.  They did exactly what they said they would.
