I told him what I wanted done and he handled it beautifully. He is very trustworthy. It was a positive and good experience. He ran into quite a few problems during the work and handled it all very well. He has a great attitude. He organized all of the work and made sure all the different projects were handled.

Of the three well rated handymen contacted, only Gene came out to give an estimate. He suggested a number of options to make the repairs and gave a reasonable estimate.  Other handymen only wanted to look at e-mailed pictures and gave estimates 2-3 times what the job ended up costing.  Gene did a professional job and worked with us to get the results we wanted in a timely manner. Overall, we were very pleased with the final result and price.  Would definitely consider hiring him again.

Gene responded to my request from Angie list in a few days but was busy and took him a few weeks for the estimate. He told me he could do the job in a few weeks but I had to call him after a month to see when he could do it. Because the work was outside we had to plan this when there was no rain in the forecast too. he did the work on a Sunday because he was so busy and I appreciate this, When    I went to right this review there was a 10% discount available for senior members. This work was done at my moms house who is a senior on a set income. He forgot to  mentioned this to me. Also he did painting at my house and forgot to mentioned 5% member discount.  I contacted him and he responded right away and apologized.  He has promised to refund me the difference.  He simply forgot.

I think that was the one guy I had. He was okay. It was months ago now, maybe, beginning of Spring. It was a little over a hundred dollars. He came very nice, personable, and quickly. He could not do a lot of things that I needed him to do, you have to refer Yelp to other people but I do not use okay. Just give him an overall A.

I was impressed with Gene at our initial meeting where we went through my 20 yr. old townhouse, inside and outside, to view my many projects, he was very knowledgeable in all areas, willing to take time, listen to ideas and give good advice.  I was excited to get started with the outside projects.
Gene and his helper Mike built a beautiful ground level deck and installed a new sliding glass door, the brand Gene had recommended, off the deck. When it came time to remove the old French door they had found lots of rotten wood on the threshold and below.  Gene made sure it was all removed and replaced, never cutting corners, to make it right.  All the while being supervised by 2 dogs and 2 cats waiting for an opportunity to escape to the back yard!
The reattachment of the siding was done by Gene while I was at work, never did I feel uneasy about not being at the house while work was being done, and the job was perfect.
The front double bay windows proved to be another challenge, the seams in the wood were splitting open and required much more than the caulking I had hoped for. Extensive rotted wood, again Gene made sure the wood was all replaced and literally rebuilt the lower bay, his attention to detail is excellent.  Not only did he caulk and paint the lower bay, he caulked and painted the entire bay (30 feet up).  
All Gene's work is excellent, he is a very personable, responsible, hard-working, honest guy and I'm looking forward to working with him again on inside projects!

Gene Scott's diligence, determination and hard work was shown from the beginning by his ability to provide us a bid for the job in the crunch time needed. His promptness in getting us this bid was beyond impressive.
After reviewing many Contractors, the quality of work, passion, drive and honesty of Gene's character and his bid is what won him the job. His attention to detail, creativity of design and craftsmanship was a joy to see first hand.  
Gene's ability to tackle any task, large or small seemed to come with ease and I feel that is because he truly loves what he does and he enjoys helping people. This is the character that had first drawn me to Gene. I respect him greatly as a skilled craftsman. I am extremely pleased with the quality of the work that he and his Crew have completed.

To call his work an awesome job done is not even describing the excellent work Gene and his brother did in my house - I am truly amazed and can confirm he can handle any job - it will look perfect after he's done. He chose the stain for the floors and has great taste . I can only thank him for keeping up with my crazy color selection - all in 10 rooms every one of them in a different color (and the ceilings also in a lighter tone) . This was a long list of things to do and repair and I could not have had a better company taking care of everything.
Looking forward to next year probably November for some more projects I am going to have for Gene.

Scott was very punctual, professional and personable. His estimate for fixing the stairs was much more reasonable than another estimate I'd obtained. He was very good about keeping in touch and arrived as planned. The job he did on the stairs was beautiful. They had been very wobbly and crooked and I'd begun to take them apart myself in an ill-fated attempt to stabilize them. Scott rebuilt them from the ground up. They now feel totally stable and safe and it's like having a brand new set of stairs. He even managed to make them look 100% better. One of the steppingstones had not matched the others and he searched my property until he found an extra steppingstone near my kitchen door that did match. He also did some landscaping around the stairs. Scott really went the extra mile on this job.  He also diagnosed a  problem with my roof and back gutter and inserted a length of aluminum in the gutter to prevent further leaking. He cleaned the gutter and sealed the downspout. His skills are impressive and I hope to use him again.

We have two separate attics that needed insulation. Gene & his brother (Brian) worked very hard to place baffles in each attic with very little space to work in. Then in one attic they installed fiberglass insulation and in the other they used blow in insulation. I am truly impressed with how dedicated they were to doing the job right even when working in horrible conditions. During this job they found a problem with vented bathroom fans and corrected these and pointed out an issue with a leak in one area that they are going to correct. Gene & Brian also installed an attic ladder & cleaned and stained a deck. We are going to have them install laminated flooring as soon as we are finished painting the kitchen cabinets.

We've always been pleased, obviously, we keep calling him back for the 'next job'! Gene is a very easy individual to work with, even when I change my mind half way through a project! I appreciate that I don't have to call a separate contractor to take care of all the different aspects of the job ... that is a real time saver. Also to be noted is that he isn't hesitant to speak up and make suggestions that will save time and money. We've found him professional, trustworthy and competent. Never should anyone hesitate to call him for any carpentry job.  

Very good. He was honest, dependable, and his prices are great. Price is either by the hour or by the job.
