I initially selected Joe's TV repair service based on his rating on Angie's list. A excellent experience. Joe came when scheduled. First, he diagnosed the issue then proceeded to secure the part which in this case required a 2nd visit. He was again prompt and professional in getting the TV back on-line. After the repair work was completed, we discussed what may have caused the main board to stop working since the TV was only 3-years old. Joe believes a power surge probably was the caused. He demonstrated what procedure I should follow when lighting is in the area. I would recommend Joe's services and would use his services again.

Upon returning from vacation, I was no longer able to access Netflix on my Samsung 60" SmartTV. After attempting to resolve the problem myself, I realized I had created others. I contacted this provider based on Angie's List reviews. Joe arrived on time, i.e., between 11:30 a.m. and noon. After a brief assessment, he ascertained that the cable box was turned off...he turned it on, and the TV worked fine. He than proceeded to view various settings, stating that he saw three (3) possible problems, but since everything was "working" to leave well enough alone and call him if the problem resurfaced. I use a Logitech Harmony remote which Joe had difficulty in using, primarily with volume and channel selection. No diagnostics were performed on the remote and he stated that he despised this device. After some trial and error activities, the volume appeared to work and Joe left, charging me $70 for a service call. While he was still in my driveway, I attempted to change TV channels...didn't happen! Joe returned and told me that he thought my remote was "weak" and that I should place it in the charging cradle to see if this resulted in improvement. He moved the Logitech antenna from inside the component cabinet to the top of the cabinet, telling me that I should stand closer to the antenna and aim the remote at it in order change channels. Let me point out that this TV is located on the wall in a large family room. We have always been able to utilize the remote from any area of this room without walking to the component cabinet and standing in front of the Logitech antenna to change channels. Standing closer to the antenna as Joe suggested has not resolved the original problem. After relying on the Angie's List reviews and a totally unsatisfactory experience with this provider, I feel my membership reflects unreliable information. I can only conclude that I have been taken advantage of and charged for less than acceptable service.

Response from Joe's In Home TV Repair
I was called by the customer because her TV would turn on but not show any cable input and wasn't able to access anything through netflix. I told her it would cost $70 for me to see what was the issue. The $70 charge was due to the travel time to and from her location. After arriving at her home I quickly realized she had toggled the cable box off when the TV was on and so the two were out of sync. I rectified the situation and moved on to streaming issue. I checked her error codes and noticed one for her WIFI connection. I reprogram her WIFI access and Netflix was again working. I told her not to worry about the error code for now since everything was working but to keep an eye on it. If there was a problem again I would look at it but since it was working right now it may have just been something that happened while she was away for vacation. After I left she stopped me in the driveway and said there was an issue with changing the channel so I went back inside. Now remind you, what I was called in for was already rectified. When I pointed her remote at the TV (which is not where the pickup for the remote is) the cable box was unresponsive, but when I pointed it toward the pick up for the remote it would work. I then rerouted the remote pick up so it was on top of the cabinet it was in because she would told me she have to keep the doors open so the remote would work. She told me the remote was off the charger for the 6 weeks she was away so I said it might just have a week charge and suggested she put it on the charger. I DID NOT CHARGE THE CUSTOMER FOR THE ADDITIONAL TIME TO LOOK AT THIS OTHER PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT I WAS CALLED FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. So if I deserve this review for fixing the problem I was originally called in for, charging a more than reasonable rate, giving the customer advice as to NOT spend money at the moment on a repair that might not be needed, and trying to help with an unrelated problem that I didn't charge for then I guess doing a good job and not taking advantage of someone is what I would be guilty of. So I'm sort of confused why I have received this review. The problem I was called in for was fixed. If there was another unrelated problem that has to do with other equipment that I happen to not be a fan of because they are expensive and problematic then is the negative review because I did my job correctly? Apparently the old saying is right, No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.

Joe showed up on time. Very courteous and communicated exactly what was to be involved in the service call, and any potential future costs. He quickly determined the two potential areas that might be causing the problem and told me what all the repair scenarios would be. I agreed with him opening up the TV (at a slightly extra cost above the service call amount) to determine exactly what was causing the problem, and he nailed it. He went directly to the cause of the problem, which was a loose ribbon cable that had dirt and corrosion built up on the connections at each end. He cleaned all the contacts, and re-fitted the cable securely, and tested the TV.....no issues at all. He quickly put it back together and returned it to its mounting location, and tested it once more. Works perfectly. This was the most expensive TV I ever bought, and based on what I had heard from others, I was preparing to just trash it and go buy another for fear of the repair cost exceeding the cost of a new one. But Joe hooked me up good, and the repair costs were good value. I did not want to spend a lot to fix this, and Joe was very clear and good about how far we would go before we reached that point.

Joe had the component in stock so he came out the day after I called. He called in advance and arrived early. He is courteous, professional and efficient. He put by 61" tv back in place perfectly even though it was pulled out when he arrived. I cannot say enough about Joe. He will be my 'go-to' should I require tv repair services in the future.

Joe came on the same day that I called. He was punctual and diagnosed the problem quickly. He had all the necessary parts that needed to be replaced and was able to do the work immediately in my home. I thought the cost: $230 ( $176 for parts and service + $59 coupon for visit & diagnosis) was reasonable. I liked not having to haul the TV to a shop and wait for it to be fixed. I especially like working with local small business people that have built a good reputation in the community. I would recommend Joe and would certainly use him again. He was friendly and personable and I enjoyed getting to know him.

Contacted provide through messaging service on Angie's List. on Monday after work. Received a prompt response and was able to schedule a visit the next afternoon (Tuesday). Joe was extremely professional, and with a good sense of humor, arrived on time and took the time to explain what he was doing and quickly found the problem (oops - it was my fault too) and was on the phone immediately looking for the necessary parts. Received a call 10:00 AM the next morning that he had the part and came the same afternoon to complete the repair (Wednesday - less than 24 hours from his visit on Tuesday) I am a single mother and work full-time. Time and money are limited resources in my life. The fact that Joe came out to the house, worked around my schedule and the TV was fixed the next day at a very reasonable rate gives him an A++ in my book. My 14 year old twin boys world is now back in balance - Joe is a hero to them :) I highly recommend Joe to anyone who is in need of TV repair!

I purchased an offer for Joe's TV Repair from Angies List to diagnose a problem with our Panasonic plasma TV. Joe determined that two of the boards on the TV needed to be replaced. These parts were ordered and approximately a week after the diagnostic visit, Joe replaced the boards. Joe was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and a professional gentleman. I would have used him for other audio/video services, but his focus is on repairing TVs. I would surely use his service again.

My plasma HDTV stopped working. I went to Angie's list and found the ad for Joe's service and called him. He came out the next day and diagnosed the problem. Two circuit boards were defective and had to be replaced. He informed me that the 2 boards had to be ordered and that the boards would take about 2 weeks before they were delivered. In order to properly reinstall and calibrate the set, Joe took my set to his shop for the repair. He kept me informed on the delivery status of the boards and when they arrived, he completed the repair and returned the set to my house. The set now works again and I am well pleased with my experience with Joe. I would definitely use his service again for any of my electronic needs. He was very courteous and responsive to my problem!

He advised that it doesn't make sense to pay for the repairs. An additional $50 would get me a new TV....

Joe was punctual and courteous. He replaced a board in the Sony flat screen television. The circuit board controls the colors and definition in the television. Fortunately he had the board on-hand. Joe installed the part, put the television back together and it is working again. I would recommend Joe, he is very knowledgeable when it comes to electronics. The best thing for me is that he was able to repair the television in my home.

Joe was courteous, professional and friendly. Nice family guy.Was not afriad to have him in our home. He explained what repair options were, what it would cost and likelihood that it was a good investment (it wasn't). Paid for service call, secure in the knowledge that it was not worth fixing. Kept Joe's card would call him again in a heartbeat and would recommend to friends and family.

I called Joe and he actually answered the phone. I informed him that our 53" projection TV made some loud crackling noises and then shut off about a week ago and has not worked since. He informed me that it might be an electrical problem. We scheduled the appt for Friday, June 7th and called me when he was leaving his one appt and headed over to look at our TV. He arrived and immediately took the TV apart and started to inspect the "guts" of the TV. He found the problem and was able to repair the TV on the spot. He then tested everything to make sure the TV worked and it did. He explained everything and was very thorough and also very informative. More importantly, he was extremely reasonable! I had purchased the $59 Onsite Service Call and Diagnostics that was advertised on Angie's and I then paid $100 for the repairs to the TV! He said us quite a bit of money v. us having to go out and purchase a new TV that would be the equivalent of our projection TV. Anyone that has an older TV may want to reconsider throwing it out and purchasing a new one - I believe having Joe come out and service your TV would be well worth the money and quite possibly save you in the long run!

Joe came over at short notice on a holiday weekend. He took the TV back to his shop and returned it repaired the next work day The price was as agreed (actually a bit less than the estimate). He was polite, honest, professional. He gave good advice. He credited the cost of the visit to evaluate the problem towards the cost of the repair. We had called Best Buy (where we bought it) and they had advised us to buy a new TV They refused to even come out unless we removed it from the wall (where they had put it) Joe saved us the cost of a new set I would use his services again

I called Joe on Friday morning and by the end of the day my TV was fixed. He was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. I would definitely recomend Joe to any of my family and friends.
Description of Work: My husband and I heard a pop in the TV and it went blank. We called Joe and he came out gave me an estimate which was fair and we had the lamp replaced. It is like a new TV again.
