We actually started at Gwynedd Veterinary Hospital with reservations. We
had several bad experiences there in the past (reviewed separately) and
at the end of the evening were just trying to get our dog back from
Gwynedd. One we had out dog out of Gwynedd, we took him home and called
poison control. They were able to walk us through what the toxin does
and how it affects dogs. They recommended that we take our dog to an
animal hospital for observation through the night. We were not going to
take him back to Gwynedd so we asked poison control for a
recommendation. They recommended Bucks County Vets. We quickly checked
Angie's list and they had an A rating so we rushed our dog there.
Once at Bucks County Vets, we were treated in a very friendly manner and
the vet on call that evening was exceptionally caring. She spoke to
poison control and asked them questions regarding other case history
with similar toxins. Once she was armed with case history and her own
past experience (she had 3 years previous history in toxicology), she
was able to recommend a course of action for the care of our dog.
The next day, we called to check on our dog and were frustrated that he
was not able to be released in the timeframe discussed the evening
before. The only negative thing I could say was that this was not
clearly communicated to us. That said, it was 1 AM when we were with the
vet and we were tired and worn out from the day.
Bucks County Vets wound up keeping our dog longer than we wished, but to
be quite honest, I realize that was due to their exceptional level of
care and concern for animals. They did not charge us extra for the
extended stay and the final bill wound up being roughly $175 less than
the estimate, which they refunded to our credit card.
Overall, they exceeded our expectations, on an holiday weekend, and in
the middle of the night. they are now our new emergency vet.

This is a great place. The staff was very compassionate and very qualified. I only wish they were open all the time, but they are not. If your pet has an issue while your regular vet is closed, this is a great place to take your pet.
