Excellent.

We had a one and a half story cape. The upstairs ceilings were quite low, and we needed more space. We had spoken to a couple other contractors about building up or out, but our experience with all of them was very poor. They would give a quote without looking, refuse to give references, and one guy even personally insulted us over our desigh ideas.
Then we found Pat and Ace Construction. Pat came out to the house and took time to clearly and patiently explain what we could and could not do based on the existing structure. He put us in touch in a great architect, but was also able to give us a rough (and very competitive) quote based on our sketches for removing the roof and building a proper second story.
We decided to get architectural plans drawn up. The architect we were referred to was great to work with. Since we were designing the second story, we wanted to be involved in every step of the planning; and we were! The plans went back and forth a few times between us all, and the Pat confirmed the bid and work began.
Pat does use subcontractors for the major work, and all of them were very professional. We were able to live in the house during renovation. In just 2 weeks, the entire roof was removed, and a new second story shell built and waterproofed. The framing, insulation, plumbing, electrical, and drywall went just as quickly and smoothly. Even a few last minute minor changes were handled quickly.
Pat came to the job site every day to monitor the demolition and construction, and then supervise/install everything else. He was easy to contact if we had a question, and kept us updated throughout the entire process, beginning to end.
