After the usual request for name, address, etc I was asked for my marital status. I was told that it was required that "my husband" be there for the estimate. I told the man that i did not give out that information for business purposes. He insisted and i said I didn't think we could do business. If two people have to be there for the estimate, perhaps the company should inquire weather anyone in addition to the caller in the home needs to be at the estimate for decision-making purposes. I found the request very unusual in today's world where many people live together with many different relationships. The I also wondered if this was a way to urge "the couple" to make a decision on the spot after the estimate?
Description of Work: I called for information from Alco Windows in response to a Big Deal offer. I asked if I could get an estimate before purchasing a coupon to see how many coupons I could use, and if it seemed to be a "fit" for what I needed. I was asked for my marital information to get an estimate. I did not continue to get the estimate from that point.
