Eric and his team were reliable in all areas from the request of estimate till timely completion of all services. I was completely satisfied with the job that they performed.

They did a good job. They were in and out and they actually took care of the cleaning. It was raining but they still do what they are going to do. He was also thorough and cleaned up because it was a pretty dirty job.

Eric arrived at our home exactly on time.  He was professional and friendly.  He managed to find bricks which perfectly matched the existing almost 60 year old bricks and he and his assistant proceeded to rebuild the top of our crumbling chimney.  Other contractors told us it would be impossible to match the bricks but Eric managed to do it and it looks great.  The final cost was exactly on the estimate with no surprises.  Even with ladders and hoisting a lot of material onto the roof they managed to work around my flower garden without breaking a single stem and they left ZERO mess when they were done.  I would use their services again anytime.  As a matter of fact, we have already asked Eric for an estimate on another job for us.  I highly recommend Schlear!

Just wanted to add an update.  Eric and his crew did return to do the additional work we asked for the estimate on.  They replaced an original 60+ year old basement window with glass block.  Again, they were right on time, very friendly and professional.  For some reason the supply of glass block originally delivered was not appropriate for the job.  They did not leave my house, but called in the error immediately and stayed until the proper supplies were delivered, which did not take very long.  They then installed the new glass block and it looks great.  Again, they left no mess behind including cleaning the inside room where the window was installed.  I have had nothing but good experience dealing with this contractor and highly recommend their work.

I have been a rental property owner with over fifty properties with ten years in the business. They have been doing all my masonry repairs, that includes brick pointing, brick replacement and retaining walls. All very professionally done. All my chimney work that includes cleaning and lining. Eric Schlear is a great gut to deal with. His turn over time is very fast and efficient. My tenets have nothing but good feed back. I would highly recommend Schlear Chimney Masonry Service.

I have never used my fireplace since I moved in 5 years ago. I decided I wanted to use it for Christmas this year, well my decision was was made kind of last minute. Luckily I found Schlears Chimney service and the owner, Eric, came out on the 22 of December to make sure I was good to go. There was no liner and I learned that this could be very dangerous, so Eric ordered the liner for me and came back to install on December 24. We were so excited to be able to use our fireplace just in time for the holidays! I will definitely call Schlears again!!

Although they performed the job that I asked them to, I found out just recently that their work was substandard.

The chimney liner was never installed properly- at the bottom of the chimney, there should be a junction, to which the furnace and water heater exhausts should connect. While the junction was there, it was not connected properly- the connection to the water heater was not attached and sealed to the chimney; rather, a hole was cut in the chimney liner and the pipe from the water heater simply was run to the hole- no solid piece to attach to the chimney liner. Because a proper seal was not made, the water heater did not draft properly and this was causing issues with drafting of the furnace exhaust as well as with the chimney overall. The end result was that when the water heater was running, CO levels at the water heater exhaust were around 240 ppm. Also, the chimney liner was not properly secured to the top of the chimney- nothing was holding the flange to the chimney itself.

This was completely unacceptable- once the chimney was redone by a different contractor, the CO level dropped to 4 ppm.

I am a property owner of many different locations.i found Schlear Chimney & Masonry on Yellowpages.com with many positive comments. I said to myself, "Let's give them a call". Eric Schlear came to one of my properties and got the gas turned back on by relining the heater. He also gave me a lifetime warranty and a very reasonable price. Now i use Schlear Chimney & Masonry for all my Masonry and Chimney needs, Thanks to an honest company!! I would highly recommend this company!!!
