Jim is a terrific handyman. at first I thought my job would be beyond the capacity for a handyman but I was wrong. Jim has an engineering background and was able to professionaly remove a wall to open up my kitchen as well as the other work (lighting, flooring, plastering). He worked with me to coordinate his work with the installation of granite countertops and plumbing. I was able to leave him at home to do his work while I went to work over several days. He is completely reliable and trustworthy. His prices are excellent. I would definitely hire again.

Sept 13, 2017 Jim Rice visited our laundry room to check and give estimate. He indicated that he will have to open the wall. He will re-route the pipes. Install new one lever faucet for washer recessed in the wall above the washer in a box. He will change sink faucet. He indicated that he will be able to do the job on Friday Sept 22, 2017. His estimate was between $200 and $250. On Sept 14 afternoon, I awarded the project to Jim Rice. Since job was simple and straightforward and only Jim was involved, I did not see necessity of getting in written details of the job described verbally by Jim during the estimate. On Sept 22, 2017 Jim arrived at 8:15 am. He finished the job by 11 am. His methods were different than I read about plumbing. He did not open the wall. Re-routing was done outside the wall. He did not find it necessary to install a recessed box for the washer faucet. We did not get 43” clear height. It was just about 41 and 7/8”. Because of that we did not get more depth on the platform that I was expecting. Re-routing is not done but not nicely (pipes are not in parallel. It works but does not look professional). He charged $250. As seen in the photos I installed the washer but could not take deep enough due to lack of height of the new piping. Object of the project was partially met but original plan described during the estimate was not followed.

I found Jim on Angie's List with high reviews. He's local so I called for an estimate, arrived in two hours. He was friendly and professional with no high pressure. His estimate was very reasonable so I didn't get competing bids. I supplied the parts and paid for his labor. The kitchen faucet was in the corner sink and a nightmare to get to. Took the last guy almost three hours to install it. Jim had the new faucet & garbage disposal installed in about an hour. He made plumbing look easy and it's not. The laundry room faucet was faster but he had to leave twice for parts which made the job take longer. Overall I an very pleased with Jim. He's been in the handyman business for over 13 years and has a strong customer base. He gets most of his work by word of mouth because he's good. This is the guy you want for any handyman service.

I highly recommend Jim. I've had him back numerous times to help us with small and large jobs. (It made me list a price but it has been varied based on how much work I have for him each trip. Sometimes $100, sometimes $1,000 for very large multi-day jobs). He is always on time with his tools and ready to work. I don't like leaving people alone in my house but I completely trust him. He prices by the job and he is very fair and does a great job. I am very particular and haven't had a single complaint about anything he has done for us. Great guy and a great worker. So happy we found him!

Jim was great, and I would highly recommend him.  The drywall work needed was much more extensive than originally thought, and Jim explained a few options before completing the work.  It turned out great, and he was always on time, very thorough, and always cleaned up.  He made multiple return trips to make sure the drywall work turned out as expected and any spots were touched up as necessary.  The trim work around the cabinets in the kitchen was excellent as well, and exceeded my expectations.  You should not hesitate to give Jim a call.

The job went without a hitch. Jim's estimate was spot on, he started the job when he said we would, he cleaned up after himself, was respectful of our property and performed the work flawlessly. I highly recommend him and hire him for additional work in the future.

Simply top notch!

All went well.  Our only reservation is that we wanted him to also stain the hand rail.  I asked him to buy the stain for us and do it.  Instead he reported that they would only sell him a gallon, not a quart, so he didn't buy anything and didn't stain it.  I wish he had called me to ask whether to buy the gallon.  I would have said yes, just to get it done.  Instead he just told me this at the end of the day.  Nonetheless I would work with him again and am recommending him to a neighbor.

I had about 6 contractors bid this job, Jim had the fairest price.  He arrived to the job early, even offered to come out in an ice storm  but I was concerned for his safety and rescheduled it.  An important point for me is Jim is licensed and insured.  The job was completed in 2 hours.  He initially came to my home to go over the scope of work and he stuck to his estimate.  Only disappointment was, I had to absorb $45 of additional cost when I discovered a scratch on the stainless steel grille plate.  I ordered the part from Samsung and will need to install it myself.  I called Jim and he said he did not observe this scratch on installation due to lots of hand prints on the unit.  He installed this unit by himself, under difficult circumstances, without a hydraulic lift to hold it in place, basically balancing it on one arm while he used an electronic screwdriver to mount the unit into the base cabinets.   I cannot determine if this noticeable scratch (just above the door handle and about an inch long) was a manufacturer's defect or had occurred upon installation. The cardboard box the unit came in from HH Gregg was in pristine condition.  Despite all this I have another job coming up for a bathroom remodel and plan to have Jim bid this project as well, along with 3 other contractors I thought had reasonable bids.

It went very well. He was punctual, professional, and responsive. There was a slight problem with the tiles (not the direct result of his work) and he came out promptly and fixed it. No questions asked.
