Local contractor so called, left detailed message and no return call

Contractor began work as promised. When job was 99% done  contractor asked for and received final payment (BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART). Note: They cleaned up the site and removed their equipment.
Completion was delayed due to weather in late 2008 and early 2009. By summer of 2009 work was not completed despite promises to do so. In summer of 2009 pieces of finish coat of stucco came off of chimney. I contacted the contractor about this. They visited the site and promised to make repairs. I didn't hear from them for again some months. They didn't return calls. They finally responded to a registered letter. Again they visited. Again they promised to complete work and repair chimney. I didn't hear from them again despite attempts to contact them. I finally contracted with another contractor.
Don't do what I did and give final payment until they complete work to your satisfaction
Most important I don't recommend this contractor.

The first day Mr. Bianco and his son used a jack hammer to remove the patio. It was really hard work and it took all day. They both really stuck with the job and got it all done. (They started at 7 am and finished at about 5:30 pm)  The second day they arrived on the scene at 6 am (had asked us ahead of time if that would be OK).  They worked like crazy.  When the cement truck came Rich and his son hauled the concrete from the truck at the street up to the house by wheel barrow because we asked them not to park any heavy trucks on the lawn.

The job is done now -- we just have to wait to see how it settles -- but overall, we believe these guys did a spectacular job in the hot summer heat.  (it poured rain the first day but they kept working!)
