They were sent by the warranty company for a tune up. They said I “need a part” and now heater not working and they won’t return my calls.

2.5 years ago they replaced my heat pump under AHS home warranty. Recently the unit needed repair and looking at the model number of the unit they installed a 2 Ton unit in lieu of the 3 ton unit. Now explains why the unit runs continuously.

Sent out some kid named Luis. Had no idea what he was doing. Just kept talking nonsense about things being broken and trying to come up with repairs that they should do to my furnace. They were supposed to clean my unit, but to show his ignorance, he said that my furnace didn't have a burner to clean. It's a gas furnace and for the past 6 year since I got it, I have been cleaning it. After her left, two hrs later, my unit started to stop working, with an error code that indicates thermostat isn't getting power from furnace. I called another ethical company that I worked with before and they came out to inspect the unit to see what happened after American team came to my house. It turns out that all my power wires were loosened up from my furnace circuit bored, this was 2 days after American Team came out. My unit had never sopped working before. I will leave it up to you to interpret what that means. I will never use American Team again

They had no clue what they were doing. They kept guessing what was wrong instead of doing a diagnostic test at first. Came out four times and kept telling me something else was wrong. They then called to tell me that the unit needed two sensors and it would cost me $700.00 to fix. The two sensors cost $50.00. They did not know to drain the system before working on it, they said they changed parts that they did not change. I have them on camera scoping out my basement and taking pictures of items I have there. Unprofessional unscrupulous people. Also walking around my house with no mask on in a pandemic. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They also pulled apart my boiler and ceiling and left it just like that when I would not pay the astronomical price. They are the worst

Our experience with this company started last year (through our home insurance company). Our system stopped working, they came out charged us to fill the unit and the next day it was completely empty again, then they came back out checked again and said we needed an entire new unit because there was a hole (couldn't tell us that before we paid them to fill it). We arranged for it to be fixed and after going back and forth we got fed up and said we'll wait till next year to deal with it because summer was over. Now come this year we contacted the insurance company 3 months ago, who sent American team out again and for 3 months we've been hearing give us 4 days, give us 4 days, we're waiting on parts. When they first came out they saw I was pregnant and I said we really need to get this fixed before the baby comes. Well the baby is due any day and NOTHING has been done. We contacted our insurance company today and told them we refuse to keep waiting on this company. We are done with them! At this point I don't even trust them to do the work!! Stay away from this company unless you just want a run around.

I don't know what to say about these guys. They were assigned to me by the American Home Shield Warranty company to fix my AC. Compressor went bad. insurance company paid for compressor but they robbed me. 1. Didn't call me for 4 days. even though I left them messages. 2. I had to get American Home Shield Warranty company involved 3. They replaced refrigerant 2 years ago and charged me $1,500 4. They want to do the same thing again and I have no choice since I went thru my insurance company. 5. Person on Phone was very rude and not professional at all Avoid these guys at all costs. People who have posted the same thing earlier have similar feedback about these idiots.

American Team sent out Charles and Cody to install my new unit. Charles and Cody seamlessly installed my new heat pump and air handler and now I finally have cold air again! They are incredibly knowledgeable about the AC system, explained how everything works, and explained the whole process from soup to nuts. And mine was a complicated install with hundreds of feet of tubing and three full floors between the condenser unit and the air handler. They even had to arrange for a crane to get it up on the roof! They are punctual and efficient and I can’t recommend these guys and American Team enough.

It did not go well. They came out ( 2 techs ) and I showed them my oil furnace. They took the HVAC pipe that led to chimney off and called me down. His first words were" Do you have babies ?" I said yes, I have children but not babies. He then said, word for word, " If you turn this on again they are going to die." Well I don't want that, so I asked what the problem was. He said that there was dirt on the furnace and the area where the pipe met the chimney. OK, I understand immediately that he was saying this was not his problem ( an issue with the furnace, but something that needed to be cleaned up ). I asked him if he did this type of service, knowing from previous service calls this was about 200-300 dollars. He told me he needed to talk to his boss and left the house so I could not hear him talk. He came back 5 minutes later and quoted me a 3000 dollar bill to " clean my furnace and put a liner in my chimney ". This was the point where I realized I was being ripped off, so I asked him home much the check amount for the deductible was and told him he could leave. We will be going back to the Home Warranty people to try and get our money back. I called another Oil Heating business ( largest in area ) and they laughed and told me a service call would be 289.00 and confirmed the price they quoted was ridiculously off. After reading other reviews on this company it sounds like business as usual.

Complete rip off! This company was assigned to us by HSA warranty. Charged $100 for showing up. Tech wrote to the HSA that the problem was related to improper installation (something that was his opinion and not backed up by any facts - AC worked fine for several years after installation). HSA refused to cover the repair because of how he worded the report. Looks too much like a scam that runs between HSA and American Team.

I am a first-time homeowner and this was my first time using American Home Shield and having someone come in to fix my HVAC system. One day, I started to smell a burning plastic smell through the system. I went online to schedule a service through AHS. The next day I turned on the system again and the fire would ignite, but the blower would not send that heated air through the system. American Team called me the morning after I asked for a service and we scheduled a good time for them to check out the system. One of their employees, Mike, was on time and spent a little more than an hour checking out the system. He explained everything clearly and was very thorough. Everything he was checking made sense to me, and we ended up decided to order a new motherboard for my system. Two days later I called their office to check in. They said they had the part and it was being delivered after the weekend, and we scheduled a good time for them to come install the new motherboard. They sent out two different employees on time, and they went through a series of checks again. After about an hour, we installed the new motherboard and made sure that everything was working fine. I had no complaints or issues with American Team or American Home Shield. Overall good experience and I am less nervous for the next time I have to use AHS.

He was 4 hours late, but he did not communicate with me to let me know he was running late. He could not figure out what was wrong - he suggested it needed to be cleaned. I later found out the chimney was blocked and a pipe was not angled correctly. So he did not fix the problem.

I received a call from American Team to set up the appointment. The technician - TJ - called before arriving and arrived on time. TJ was polite and the problem was diagnosed and the work was completed quickly. The company had a truck that was properly outfitted and presented a good appearance. TJ had the parts needed for the repair on the truck and was polite, knowledgeable and friendly. Overall an excellent experience because of the way the Technician, TJ handled himself and represented his company.

Incredibly terrible company.  Incompetent hvac service has left my handicapped wife with severe breathing issues.  Any mercy or compassion from company personnel? No!  Any skill to fix the problem? No! Any real attempt to come back and rectify the issues? No!

We went through this company from our home buyers warranty. They were responsive and kind in our dealings but took advantage of homeowners who did not understand our HVAC system. Our heat was not working on one floor and they identified the problem as a zone control valve that needed to be replaced. This did not fall under our warranty so we paid out of pocket. The heat still did not work so they came back out and told me there was nothing they could find (the heat would warm up to about 63 degrees at times but not go any higher). Then a few weeks later our heat started making loud noises rattling through the house and a different emergency contractor came out and to our dismay we found THERE WAS NOT EVEN A VALVE REPLACED! And the main issue was there wasn't any water in the tank and it needed to be cleaned. American Team completely ripped us off and from seeing other reviews on here, this is a common theme for them. STAY AWAY.

American Team had two tasks. The GFI outlet was replaced. However, the service person immediately said that he would check with HSA Home Warranty and get back to me on performing he work. Never received a call and when I called American Team I was told the HSA would contact me to tell me that the work is not covered. There was no follow-up on whether I wanted the work done without the warranty coverage. There were not even interested. This company received $100 for changing a GFI outlet.

The first three people did a terrible job. The last guy did good.  First guy couldn't fix it. Second guy said they had to replace a coil and then cut it too short so that was leaking and then they didn't add a part and that caused more leaks. When I complained enough they sent the last guy out and he fixed it. I was without my AC for most of the summer.  I dislike their responsiveness, they did a terrible job, cut it short and showed up without part. When they finally fixed it they fixed it with duct tape. When I complained again it took a few weeks to get the last guy out.

Quick Summary
- Despite 2 visits by 2 different technicians, American Team was unable to properly diagnose the source of the problem.
- American Team tried to sell us a costly cleaning service that ultimately was unrelated to the true root cause of our problem.
- American Team failed to communicate with us as their technician described, leaving us waiting for several days for a response while our heating system continued to experience issues.
First Visit
American Team was dispatched by our Home Warranty company to service our furnace at the beginning of October.  When we first attempted to heat the house, the fan would start but the furnace would not.  During the visit, the technician was able to make a fix by cleaning out a line so that the furnace would start again.  So far, so good!
Second Visit
After between one and two weeks, the furnace began having issues again.  It would turn on and heat to temperature, then fail to come on for several hours at a time.  A different technician was dispatched to evaluate the issue further.  This visit did not go well.
First, the technician was unable to locate the description of the diagnostic code that the furnace was generating.  He could not find the descriptions, usually kept somewhere on the unit itself (A technician from another company later showed me they were on one of the panels) nor could he look them up via his smartphone.  He said that his office would have to order the manual.  He also stated that he believed we needed the evaporator coil to be cleaned, that this would likely not be covered by the warranty, and that American Team would be sending us a letter outlining the cost of the repair and what steps needed to be taken.
After several days waiting for this letter, we called American Team to follow up.  The first person who answered the phone said she would reach out to the technician for an update and call us back.  After several more hours with no return phone call, we called again.  The second person who answered the phone told us that American Team does not send out letters, the coil needed to be cleaned, and we could have it scheduled whenever we wanted.  It would take several hours to complete and would not be covered by our home warranty.
After speaking with our Home Warranty, who told us that they would still cover our furnace even if another company performed the coil cleaning, we called around for a 2nd opinion.  It turned out that the root cause was a failed controller board, and that there was no issue with the evaporator coil.  Had we listened to American Team we would have bought an expensive cleaning service that we did not need, and we still would have issues with our furnace.

We contacted our homeowners warranty company, American Home Shield and they assigned American Team to check out and repair our broken attic fan.  I was a little concerned about the company after reviewing some of the mixed reviews on Angie's list.  However, we were very pleasantly surprised with our experience.  We were contacted within a very short period of time by a very pleasant person who was sensitive to our need for an early morning appointment, which she arranged for the following day.  The repair technician called ahead and was even early which worked out well for us.  He went into our attic and discovered a burned out attic fan motor and told us we needed a new one, which he actually carried on his truck so he could replace it immediately.  It took him about 15 minutes and we were all on our way.  The total cost was $75.00 for the visit.  We appreciated the service we received from American Team and would be glad if they were assigned to us again.  We have had good luck with American Home Shield over a ten-year period and plan to keep our policy in force.

I received a call directly from Bud, the owner of the American Team who said that he would personally call the warranty co. explain the situation, and give them his recommendation for resolution to the problem. He called me back a few days later to let me know that because the system had been compromised by the hybrid refrigerant, he got the warranty co. to agree to replace my condenser or heat pump completely, replace the evaporation coil in my air handler and install the latest R410 refrigerant that is environmentally friendly and inexpensive to add in the future if the need should arise.

The old system was  removed and new install completed in about 3 hours. The technicians were prompt, efficient and courteous.

I am grateful to owner Bud and AMERICAN TEAM for exceeding my expectations in resolving my HVAC problem. My heating system is finally operating properly, my energy costs are back to normal which has provided peace of mind and one happy client.

AMERICAN TEAM will be my HVAC contractor of choice in the future. I highly recommend that they be yours also.

The people who answered the phone were rude.  They were prompt, but rude.  They sent two technicians, neither of whom got our heater to work.  The first technician diagnosed a bad blower motor on Zone 1 and thought he had fixed a Zone 2 heater.   1 hour after he left bothunits were still down.  The second technician came back to replace the blower motor on Zone 1.  He noted when replacing the blower that there was a fair amount of flame roll-out from the heater exhangers.  I asked him if he could diagnose or fix the problem.  He said he was only there to replace the blower motor and wouldn't look further, the only think he could recommend was to get a carbon monoxide meter and if the there was a problem later call back.  He looked at Zone 2 and said he couldn't even diagnose the problem unless we removed the ceiling (Zone 2 is mounted in a very small crawl space).   None of this made sense to me, so we made arrangements for another contractor who a) condemned the Zone 1 unit (there were cracks on both sides of four heat exhanger tubes) a cracked flue collector cover and other problems.   He also diagnosed the Zone 2 problem - simply a bad braker - we didn't need to remove the ceiling at all - it was fixed in 20 minutes.
