LET THE BUYER BEWARE
In March I called and requested that ABC come and REPLACE my oil tank float. I made arrangements for someone to be home at the time of the service call. Technician came and went without speaking with anyone. On top of bill it stated, “REPLACE OIL TANK FLOAT”. Bill was paid by me. Weeks later, I called my oil provider to fill up my oil tank. After the tank was filled I went into the basement only to find that the oil level was still at ¼ full, and that the float had not been replaced at all. I called ABC and told them that instead of them doing the work that was requested, even though it stated clearly on the work order REPLACE OIL TANK FLOAT, the bill listed a service call, labor and degreaser. So the technician not only did not do what was requested, he failed to mention to anyone what he supposedly did do. Looking at the gauge now, I would have no way of knowing if he even touched the gauge at all. I stated that I wanted to have the gauge replaced as initially requested, and was told that a part would have to be ordered. I then said that since I already paid for a service call, labor and degreaser, which was not requested, that they should not charge for an additional service call. I waited and waited to hear from them. Called them back, and they still had not decided on what they were willing to do. Even with all the excuse from them regarding the delay in getting back to me multiple times, I was still willing to have them do the work. I was told that due to “CODES” I would need to replace the entire unit to anywhere between $400 and $600.00. I then still had to call back every two weeks to see if any progress was being made regarding the service call fee. Each time I was told, I’ll get back to you in reference to if I would be charged again for service call and/or labor. So today, over 5 weeks from my first call regarding the above, I received a voicemail stating that they were not willing to even take off the $40.00 additional service call, but I should let them know if I want to go ahead with placing an order to replace the part which would again be between $400 and $600, and what kind of estimate is that even. Needless to say, I will no longer do business with this company, and I would hope that anyone would think twice before using them. Find yourself a reputable HVAC company that stands behind their work, and one that also does what is requested by the customer.
