"I called Penn Hills Lock and Door and was told that the repairman was a little busy. I wanted to verify that they repaired Multi-center Mortise Locks and I was told they do this all the time. So I waited a a couple of weeks than I connected PWD Service for the parts to make the repairs my self and was told they had a person that made house calls Mr. Hackley shown up and made the repairs and than a week later Penn Hills Lock and Door Called me back saying their was an opening in their schedule to fix my door. Too late! "

They showed up on-time, took the time to review our current doors and listened to our expectations.  They provided an estimate as promised for our review.

He came in time. I had three doors to fix and the work was done in one hour, more and less. Good work.

I had a very strange experience with this business. I needed two deadbolts replaced on my doors. I first talked to someone on the phone who gave me a vague time-frame that I could expect someone to come and give me an estimate. I called back a couple days later, when no one ever came. We set a time for and quot;probablyand quot; that afternoon. The locksmith did come to my home, looked at the job and gave me an estimate. He was nice and professional. He had my number, because I was called before he arrived. He had to order two deadbolts in the finish that I wanted, and said I would receive a call, when they came in. After hearing nothing for almost 2 weeks, I called and was told that my locks just came in. I was then told that the locksmith would be there probably that afternoon. He never came. No one ever called. I guess they just were not interested in the job. I was very patient, but eventually called someone else and had the work done.

They are very competitively priced. The service is pretty quick especially in an emergency like if your locked out. I got 3 keys per door and 2 doors re-keyed. It took him 3 days to get out here but that was my fault. He was available to come the next day but I was not available. I checked with a couple other locksmiths and he was the best priced. He was very fair and accommodating. I had no hang ups with it. Everything worked out of the gate. The keys that he cut worked without a glitch which was nice. He did it all one time and it was all good.

The person I talked to would not make an appointment with a specific date and time. He told me he would put me on the schedule. I called back a couple days later to see if I could get an idea when they would be coming out as I was going out of town and needed the key for the petsitter. He still could not provide me with a date and time. I thought this was really strange and not conducive to getting the work done, so I called another company.

Requested that a job be performed. Took and gt; 24hr to receive a call back. When I did get in touch with them, I requested that they come either Monday or Tuesday. Their response was that they would "try to get out there this week". I had not heard from them by Wednesday so I called. They attributed the delay to a death in the family which is completely understandable. They were to send someone later that day to service the door but even after THAT call, no one showed. I finally called Ace Lock Inc on Thursday morning. The secretary responded immediately and a technician was at the house 30 minutes later.

They did a very good job. They had to work with some locks that were from the 1950's.

When he was running a little late, he called to let me know. Gave me several options for service. Came back later at no extra charge to complete work when parts came in.

First, I had trouble coming up with a good time for Bob to come and fix my lock but he was gracious through several call-backs of "I have to change the time again." Because of the delay, I was able to locate what looked like all of the parts to the broken lock. If he could fix the lock then I could return the brand new lock I had purchased. Low and behold, he WAS able to fix the lock. I have a very old, round-top door that has been through a lot. Despite the fact that the last guy drilled the hole wrong, Bob was still able to re-drill it and make the old parts work. We have been going to Penn Hills Lock and Door for years to have keys made for our cars. I've noticed through the years that Bob is a real craftsman. The calls he takes while I'm waiting for a key point out that people really need locksmiths but they seem to be a dying breed. Bob is an old-fashioned quality oriented master. I hope he finds some young guy to apprentice because we all desperately need what he offers.

I called early in the morning. Got a live person, who asked me some questions so he could get a better idea of what was needed (equipment to bring) and told me he would be out in the early afternoon. He came when he said he would, fixed the lock (instead of replacing the whole luck), gave us two keys to the front door and two keys to the back door (which we never had before). He was in and out in less than 1 hour. Very neat, no mess for us to clean up.
