Mel Aiken and his staff perform PA inspections and general automotive repairs as well as body work in a separate shop on the site. The defining characteristic of the work done at Mel Aiken's garage is that he is not trying to lure you into his garage in order to "find" lots of work to do so your car will pass the PA inspection.
I. e., Mel does NOT use this required auto service to rip off his customers, like some of the franchised auto dealers and repair shops do. My experience with the auto dealer that I bought my small SUV from was their prices were 50% or more higher than at Aiken for the same work done by Mel. For example, when we had my wife's car inspected using a "$2 coupon" for a very low price inspection at a local auto dealer; they came up with about $600 of repairs which they claimed were necessary to pass inspection. Mel told us that one of the things the dealer wanted to fix did NOT need replacement, saving us several hundred dollars! Mel's prices are very fair, much lower than the auto dealer and the franchised auto shops. We take all our vehicles to him for service, that which I don't do myself, and inspections.
