My engagement with Top Notch and Matt Morgan probably qualifies as the worst experience I ever had with contractors. On the positive side he is a nice guy, always reachable, and responds promptly. That’s about it. This company is a pass-through – it has only two handy men that do very sloppy work. You don’t want Titus or his brother to touch anything in your house. Everything else is sourced out to other companies. This might not be a big problem if you had decent coordination ... which Top Notch is not doing. Nobody ever shows up when they are supposed to. Quality of work – substandard. In the bathroom, tiles were not aligned right. They acknowledged, came back, took one tile out and damaged 5 other. Marble had a little scratch. They acknowledged, came back and used sandpaper to fix it. The result was a bigger damaged. When questioned, the tile guy from Toscana Tiles if I remember well said “I don’t work on stone”. Shower installation – another disaster. It was leaking into the kitchen. They acknowledged, came back and fixed it, but they had to redo the kitchen celling. The garage floor epoxy paint started peeling off in just a couple of months. They kept trying to fix things but every time it got worse. In the process, there was so much dirt on the carpet they installed before finishing construction, that I had to have it professionally cleaned. In the end I got a lawyer and settled for damages.

All the little things that needed later attention were attended to by Matt, the owner. He is a young, experienced, enterprising and efficient. He prides himself on getting back to his customers in a timely fashion, and had always done that, EVEN after the fact when things needed remedies. He was always honest with me and straightforward, and his suggestions were usually practical and well considered. The finished product evidences that.
