Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel
6 weeks into the project and all I have completed are new flooring and half of the cabinets. The quality of the flooring was poor, not installed per manufacturers instructions and floors were crooked. The new flooring was to match existing flooring, he used red oak to try to match white oak floors. It was to be seamless with no threshhold, but I was given a threshhold anyway.
The cabinets:I was told it was a high end Wolf product line. I found out that it was not, that is was not Wolf cabinets, it was an ammish sub-brand of standard, everyday quality. I have already paid for half of the job already, when I asked for a break down of all charges, he could not provide. I set up a meeting to discuss the break down and how we would proceed, on the day of the meeting, I saw Ken Mixter leaving my house. I talked to the workers to see if he had confirmed our appointment for that evening. They did not know. I went upstairs while they worked to get ready for work. When I came downstairs, all of the boxes of my new cabinets, 8 total, has been removed from my home without my knowledge. I had already paid for these cabinets. I unloaded 5 boxes from their work truck before they drove off with them. The owner, Ken Mixter, had driven off with several boxes earler in the day. I called my local police and talked to Police Chief Wonto and filed a police report.
I was able to get ahold of Ken and ammicably came to a decision that I would find a new contractor to complete the remainder of the remodel after he finished installing the cabinets for $3000. It has been an additional 2 weeks since that agreement was made, and my cabinets are still not fully installed. He is now telling me that he needs an additional $1500 to finish the job on top of the $3000 agreement. Ultimately, he is going to charge for me his ordering the wrong cabinet and make me pay for the correct one as well.
He has been very deceiptful and not upfront, at all, in his pricing. The quality of workmanship is extremely poor compared to high price.
