After a disappointing series of no-shows from other contractors, I found Brown Contracting on Angie's List and contacted them.  We were long time DIY'ers who were in need of some expertise for a custom bathroom - well over our level of experience or time.  Steve (the owner) showed up when he said he would and was very candid about the length of time until he could schedule us (first contacted in the fall of 2014 - bathroom job started in spring of 2015).  Even with the delay, we signed with Steve and we could not be happier with the quality and professionalism of him, his crew and the subcontractors that he uses.  Well worth the wait.  Steve accommodated our crazy schedules, worked around our dogs and installed a masterpiece of an marble and tile bathroom with custom cut glass for the shower.  It is a true craftsman bath - we couldn't be happier.  We then signed on Steve to do two minor jobs - basement heating and replacement of old jacks holding up our beam.  Steve advised that we didn't really need to replace the jacks, but did so based on my insistence - he won't sell you something that you don't want or need.  Steve's crew covers the floors from entry point to work area, vacuums daily, minimizes space needed for prep (we gave them one bay of our two bay garage to use).  The crew is respectful of your home and your space.  Brown contracting is our contractor for life now.

They arrived on time and started the work I had contracted. I had too many appliances on one circuit and they split off the lines. My refrigerator was put on it's own line; as was the air conditioner. Move out frig, so I could clean behind right away, before the started on that work. I also had an outlet put in the floor in front of a picture window, so I would not have to use an extension cord for holiday lights. They worked very efficiently and finished the work in the allotted time. I am very happy with the fan.

Steve Brown contactaed us to come and do an estimate. He was prompt and had many helpful suggestions. He was honest about how long it would take to complete the job and when they could start. His estimate was very accurate and the price would have been exactly what the estimate stated if we hadn't made some changes during the course of the remodel. They were very mindful that this was our only bathroom and we were without a shower for only a day. The workers were great. They came when scheduled and worked all day with only a quick lunch break. They did great work.
My only complaint was Steve contacted me less than a week prior to starting the job to pick out fixtures, vanity and floor tile. Because he waited until the last minute the vanity and sink were not available. We had to wait 6 weeks for them to come in, so the bathroom was mostly completed in a week with the exception of the sink.
I would use him again as he did a very good job.

Steve and his team arrived at 8:00 am and went to work leveling and attaching the cabinetry to form a 6 x 6 kitchen island. In all there were about 18 individual pieces that were shipped from the cabinetry manufacturer. They removed all the drawers and measured the kitchen to make sure of an accurate placement of the base cabinets for level and plumb. They carefully tied all the units together and fastened the kick plates, end panels and decorative wood trim. His experience was apparent as the project went from layout to placement. He wired the unit with three outlet and ran wires to the junction box. By the end of the day I had an assembled island ready to be measured for a quartz top which is done by specialists.

We could not be more pleased with the work that Steve and his crew completed. They proved to be competent thoughout the job-from the demolition of the old chimney, to the installation of the hardwood, to the more detailed finishing and matching of trim work- all of their work met or exceeded our expectations. Our project was worked on every week day, even one Saturday, until the job was completed. Steve and his workers are also friendly, punctual, and very professional. We will be using them for other projects in the future, and highly recommend them for any remodeling job.

On every project everythiing went perfectly. Steve is the kind of guy where close is never good enough and he instills that attitude in his workers. Steve's dad, Bob, is the same way and although he is retired he sometimes works with the crew and it is just a joy to have them doing work for you. i would not hesitate to recommend Brown Contracting to anyone. If Steve says he can do it, he can do it!
