Mr. Appliance of Monroe & Northampton Counties

This company is terrible. Their prices are high and they want full payment on the job up front. I understand why a company wants to get paid when they need to special order parts and generally I don't have an issue with that. But according to the company, the parts were continuously back-ordered. It took four weeks to schedule a service appointment. When we finally scheduled a day, the company did not show up to perform the work in the time period they gave me. Another day was set and we still waited several hours and called the company in the last fifteen minutes of the schedule time to make sure they would be there.
 I wouldn't recommend this company at all as they are totally unprofessional.

This was a FOURTH service call under warranty for a fancy Verona stove. My original gripe was that one of the two ovens heated too slowly. Whatever they did, it didn't fix it. Second time I added that I'd noticed that the fan did not stay on after shutting off the slow-heating oven and it still heated up too slowly and did not maintain the temp. They installed a thermostat -- no change. Third call the guy actually took the top of the stove of and noticed that several wires leading to the controls were disconnected. Aha! He connected them up, put some other gizmo in, shoved the stove back in place and ran out the door. "Aren't you going to test it?" I asked. "No time" he yelled over his shoulder. This time when I set the stove for 350 degrees it actually went to 350 in a reasonable amount of time-- and then on to 400, 450, 475...burned teh whole top off my pudding.
On the FOURTH service call was told serviceman would arrive between 10 AM and 1 PM. At 1 PM I called the store, was told he was "behind" and might be "an hour or two late." Is there any reason they couldn't have notified me of this two hours earlier? At 3 PM I call the store again and am told he is "in the area" but he has another service call that he "might" do first. This is unconscionable in a day and age of telephones -- not to mention cell phones, email and texting. Very bad customer service -- I have now been a prisoner in my own home for 5+ hours.
And he still isn't here.
Hence, the crappy review.

Made two more appointments.  Repairman did not come at the agreed upon time and repair was not done.  Left several messages but never received a call back. Called again and was told that I needed to call my warranty provider to re-open my repair case.  She then went on to say that I refused to let the repair man in on one occasion and was not at home at the appointment time at the two others, and that is what she would tell anyone who inquired as to why my repair was not done.  In other words that she would lie as to why the repairman did not do the repair, that it was my fault.  When I called my warranty  company, they thought I just wanted a different repair company.  When I explained that they had my parts already so would still like to use Mr. Appliance, the company called Mr. Appliance and the women told them that no part was ever ordered.  In other words she lied again.

Do not use Mr. Appliance of Stroudsburg. The office there is terrible, they lie about appointments, very unprofessional. The girl who answers the phone is horrible and I get no reply to my request to speak to the owner. I filed a complaint with my extended warranty company who uses them for my appliance warranty repairs.

This is a shame, because the repairman Joe, is very competent and very pleasant.  I wish I could just get him to my house.

It was great from the call for help, to the well dressed & spoken serviceman arrived. He knew the exact nature of the problem & fixed it in less than 10 minutes. GREAT GUY!!!!!!!!!!

I knew exactly what was wrong with my oven. I called to make an appointment for a technician to come out and told the receptionist what was wrong. I was told that there would have to be a diagnostic visit that I would be charged for, even if I did not elect to have them perform the service. I do not recall the fee, but i think it was about $80. I was able to schedule an appointment a few days after my call, at a time convenient to me. The technician came and poked around for a good 20 minutes or so, then told me that it was the oven ignition. The cost for the repair would be over $300 (I do not remember the exact amount). Of course I needed the oven fixed and I was already into the company for the diagnostic visit so I told him to go ahead. I should mention here that this Hotpoint range cost about $500 just 4-5 years ago, so it wasn't very old. He fixed it, it worked, and he left. I called the company to complain. They called me back to say that he calculated incorrectly and they owed me $66. They did send a check, but the repair still cost more than $250. The part costs about $80. That's just a rip off. Never again.

Very bad experience. Too slow to respond.
