you live your pet, then STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Two days ago they let our beloved dog just suffocate and die without doing ANYTHING, they just left her on a table, didn't even HAVE THE DECENCY to call us in to let us know, if they had called us I would have simply told them to turn her over on her left side and she would have stayed alive, then when we wanted to say goodbye after waiting in their parking lot for FOUR HOURS, they wouldn't let my wife use their restroom so we had to go all the way home and back ( 45 minutes ) and when we got back they let us in and brought her in the room on her last breath...THIS IS NOT THE FIRST AND ONLY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THEM, THEY USED TO BE **** GOOD UNTIL THEY WERE BOUGHT OUT AND GOT RID OF ALL OF THE GOOD VETS, AND NOW THEY ARE ALL ABOUT MONEY...PLEASE, IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE..( they only have ONE good vet who is truly caring, if you cannot get an appointment with Dr, Dengler then DO NOT GO !!

the surgery went well, thankfully. the staff was difficult. they treated me like a common criminal. but, the clinic is rated best in the area and close by, so i went and stayed. my dog needed surgery immediately. i asked to see licenses, which i thought was a normal and responsible question. i was told no because i might copy and use the license number to write prescriptions. i was told the vet went to purdue. i researched it while my dog was in surgery and found that wasn't the case at all and that she'd only been practicing for a year or so. had i known that information before the surgery, i probably would have asked for a vet with more experience. however, she did a good job and i made sure to thank her personally in followup. the charge was $2000, which they insisted i pay upfront before they would take my dog into surgery. i paid. they wouldn't consider a more reasonable charge nor a charge based on actual performance of duties. they had saved my information including a private phone number, which i always ask that they not do, from an inquiry about their services years prior. that made me very uncomfortable. this was the first time i actually used this vet. i stayed on site during the entire surgery in spite of their suggestions that i go home and they'd phone me. no way!! since that surgery, they have dispensed antibiotics based on the authority of vector control who faxed them information verifying that my dog was quite probably infected with lime. i am trying to get that medication again with little success. again, i'm being treated like a common criminal. they saw my pet less than a year ago. they know enough about me and my dog to know that i am a responsible owner. still, i cannot get accurate information from them. one says they do lime testing, another says they do not. i phone asking for meds for lime based on vector controls analysis of the ticks i found on my pet (while using frontline) faxed to them that day. they say there's an emergency in house and i have to wait. i agree because i know what it is to have a medical emergency. i know that i need to be gracious in spite of seeing that my pet already has symptoms of lime. i can wait a few hours while another animal is cared for. i get a call back after 10pm prepared to drive in. i return the call only to hear that they will not dispense until the am. they say call first thing in the am. i call at 8am (yes, up all nite waiting) and they say i must wait for a particular dr whose schedule they don't know. no professionalism here, clearly. are they the best vets around? i'm not sure. but, they have 24/7 emergency care, dr on duty, which makes a difference to me. do i have another choice? unfortunately it seems i do not. i'd love to have a local vet who is professional and who treats me like the professional i am, with 24/7 emergency care, dr on duty. suggestions? recommendations?

My fur baby is 7 years old and has only known care from Barton Heights. They are knowledgeable. The place is immaculate. Their prices are high but I've been reluctant to change since they offer 24 hour emergency care. My other concern is the turnover of Drs. It seems every time I bring my dog for his yearly check up or an office visit, the Dr. I saw last "is no longer with us."

Two of our three dogs are older dogs, and we've been going to Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital since we got them when they were puppies. My 16-year-old began acting uncomfortable with one of her legs so we took her there to have her checked. She is a cancer survivor too, so we're always a little worried that it's come back. They said no, it's just arthritis, so now she is on serious drugs. She is 60-some pounds so she's big. She is handling the drugs really well and is not goofy at all. On these new meds she is getting playful again, and she is the instigator, she winds the other two up and then steps back and watches them go crazy. It's been fun to see her regain that playfulness. Dr. Birch and Dr. Greenleaf have been the vets we've used most.

We took him to Barton Heights and he was treated and given all his shots. I have never taken my pet somewhere where they were beyond professional. They called to to check on my cat and sent a nice welcome card. The cleanliness was unbelievable. The doctor was very professional and was better with my cat that I am.

I have heard people say that they are a little pricey, but I don't mind that because they are very, very good. I have been using him for probably a year now. They are a little costly.

I have used Barton Heights for medical care of my dogs and cats for the last six years. They have always been extremely caring, thorough and very professional. Top notch medical care. I trust all Doctors on staff, as well as the Technicians, to diagnose and treat my four-legged children. I also believe their prices are similar to other animal hospitals I've used in the past.

They are always very professional and they are great with my dog. They are very clean as well. Although a little high with their prices, I will continue to go to their clinic.

The staff is extremely professional and responsive. The doctors discuss all options in detail, and answer all questions thoroughly. I never feel rushed. They have up-to-date equipment and services. The staff sometimes calls to see how an animal is doing a few days after an office visit. One vet even keeps checking (or having staff check) with a dog food company to see whether my preferred brand of food (a special veterinary formula for one dog) is back in production. The entire staff is also extremely sympathetic and kind before and after euthanizing a pet. These people really love animals and are kind to the owners as well. The cost of service is higher here than at some other animal hospitals in the area. However, when I have been frank about not being able to afford a certain service, the doctors have been very helpful in suggesting less expensive or more cautious options. (I'm sure there is not always a less expensive alternative, but it's nice to know that they are willing to try to think of one.)

There are other doctors here as well but we love the doctors we've worked with. Most recently we had a female cat neutered. They didn't have to do the procedure with the long incision as is usually done but rather with laser treatment. The incision was 1/2 an inch and the cat was up and about within 2 days. The staff and doctors are extremely caring, loving and knowledgeable. They obviously love the animals and extend a courteous and caring service.
